Thanks so much for your video! I managed to get the S Class pirate freighter with the square 4 supercharger slots after 26 tries! I did my runs a little differently. I set up a base in the pirate system (in your video) and then ported to a nearby system (any system will do) and ported back to the pirate system. The pirate freighter encounter always spawned for me when I ported back. I did not create a restore point, I did not warp for 5 times and I did not have to be playing for 3 hours either. I had my space combat settings set to minimal and enemies to weak to make the runs faster and easier (Note: When I set the space combat settings to none, the encounter did not spawn for me). For those who still need credits/nanites, I also demanded tribute every time when it was A, B or C Class freighter. That way I made about 7.5 million credits and 450 nanites each run. I made close to 200mil credits and 12000 nanites during my 26 runs so all in all the runs were not a total waste.

I just went on board the freighter after taking out the warp drive and guns, demanded my tribute when it wasn't an S class and flew off and warped to a different system. The encounter respawned when I warped back to the same pirate system.

Maybe really old to some people but for those who struggle to find a pirate freighter at all, you need to own already a freighter. This is mandatory to even get to the point having the dreadnought battle scene and get the freighter. So your first free freighter cannot be the dreadnought at all. So, get your first freighter and then hunt for the dreadnought.

Regardless of the grade, you have to have a cargo ship to get a pirate ship? What did I do for eight hours?

@@KR_artemis unfortunately you have to have any freighter before you will encounter the pirate dreadnought battle. They may change that in an upcoming version but i doubt it. As of 4.72 it is still the case. Small tip .. try the get an expensive freighter as the first (free) one so you wont pay too much for the dreadnought

I had about 20 attempts altogether, including one with the dreadnought spawning with its back inside a system station :) But I don't like derelicts and I don't do them. Instead, I maxed the standing with faction that gives freighter augmentations (merchants I think). Then I 'parked' my ship in a system with that gives it and I just pick it up from there once or twice a day. Plus I did a run through all my know system stations and got maybe 10 extra to start with. If that is not enough, you can write down the names of the systems that give these augmentations and do another run only there. That's what I did with multitool expansions. This way is easiest (first prepare the items to max out standings).

Thanks for the video! I saw this ship on Reddit last week but was too busy with work to have a look, and had started the expedition, which was good. Yesterday I had some long boring zoom meetings so I had NMS running on another computer to pass the 3 hours. When I warped to this system the battle started on the second warp but amazingly, the battle was pirates attacking a normal freighter and the rescue was of that freighter from the pirates (ie the old fashioned freighter battle that has not taken place in a pirat system for 3 months, no pirate dreadnaught in site. I did another 3 hours and the same thing happened! So, being a glutton for punishment I did a 3rd set of 3 hours (I was not kidding when I said long boring zoom meetings) and at the end warped to a different pirate system and the same thing happened yet again. No pirate dreadnaughts in pirate freighter combat. Since I had not seen anyone complain about this, I wondered it if was a glitch associated with the expedition so today I started up another of my 10 games, did the 3 hours of waiting around, warped to the appropriate system where the pirate dreadnaught battle immediately started. When I did my first freighter hunt in 2017 I wanted an S class venator - it took 63 reloads in a pirate system, lots of A class but forever for S class. Today my first 18 reloads in a row were C class but then number 19 was the S class, so compared to my first effort, this was cake. I suspect that my experience yesterday was a glitch associated in some way with the expedition. I notified the zen desk of the experiences this evening. The pirate dreadnaught is massive and the detail on the superstructure is epic. I see that Scottish Rod has already posted a massive freighter build.

Hey Ronald. Yep that sound definitely a glitch from expedition. It happened to my main save as well. Had to finish expedition to be able to get it. I thought they fixed it during test version. But seems they still need to fix it. Congratulations for awesome s class ❤️🎉💪

Just wanted to put this here in case anyone else has the same problem. I tried this method and managed to spawn a "rescue the freighter" event. I never got the Pirate Dreadnaught to show up. Turns out, you actually have to own a freighter first before trying to get a Pirate Dreadnought. I don't know why it is like this but it seems like it. So, in case you're trying this route and don't own a freighter yet, do the rescue mission and claim the freighter (you can still try and roll for an S class one). Afterward, spend another 3 hours in game and do some jumping, as explained in this video. Once you encounter another space battle, make sure you reload your restored save and make the event happen in the system this video mentions. Enjoy!

For everyone else grinding or who will grind for it, It took me about 4 hours playing on and off to get an S class by grinding from the restore point, like in the video. Here are the stats from recoding the classes: C = 35 times = 85.4% chance to spawn each time B = 2 times = 4.9% chance A = 3 times = 7.3% chance S = 1 = 2.4% chance Those numbers only represent my grind. If I redid this a thousand times (no way I have the patience for it), I bet the actual statistics would play out to something like. C=85% B=5% A=5% S=5% I was probably lucky to get an S this fast considering those probabilities. Good luck to everyone else. You can get the S-class.

Finally got this last night! I made 34 attempts and only got one B class and the rest were C class. It occurred to me I missed a step. So I must not have hit the three hour mark because I warped back and forth and never got a battle so I warped into the target system and the freighter was there. 34 attempts later I gave up for a bit. About three hours later, I warped to a random system and came out in a freighter battle. reloaded my save point, used a station warp to get back to one of the neighboring systems and tried again. Got it after only 7 tries. Thank you!!!

sadly. seems atlas path mission still prevent about 5% of players from getting it . not sure why. but you are right. i should have mentioned it. make sure finish the atlas path / get 1 sentinel ship from sentinel camp / finish Trace of metal mission by getting Settlement

Trigger this event on 2 systems (preferably ones you can warp with no special warp engines). 1. Defeat the pirate capital ship 2. Check class 3. If S class, you stop right here, else continue 4. Jump to the other system where this was triggered as well Rinse and repeat until you get your S class.

for some reason my last save point was when i entered the system with the pirate freighter spawning in luckily i counted my warps so it happened in the pirate system meaning i skipped the need to warp back and just needed to reload the save to reroll the freighter class

Figured i would put this here but the new pirate freighters will attack enemy ships! i was searching a planet for S class ship and had a hostile sub space scan, when the enemy ships warped in they were almost immediatly destroyed by the anti-ship cannons on the frieghter, and i do have video proof of this lol

Have warped to this system 10 times in a row after ensuring it would be a freighter battle - and not once has a dreadnaught spawned

you have to have a freighter before. if u already have it there 3 things u need to have to trigger the mission in right system . atlas path ( finish the story ) get settlement ( finish trace of metal mission ) visit 1 sentinel ship camp . finish those and it should trigger right away. also please make sure ur combat setting on good too.

@@hero2u1 So you can't get a Dreadnaught if you havent accepted a previous Freighter? There goes my hopes of getting a 'Free' dreadnaught. I dont think i've had the settlement mission, or sentinel ship mission - although I do have a sentenel shp available to chose.

Ater expedition i tried to get the Frigther and after 20 tryings , got it S class . A Ghost Frigate and the Pirate Frighter. The Flying Dutchman Fleet 😂 ( I did the Expedition with no materials at beginning, thats fun 😊) Thank you for your work 🤩 and the community.

I wanted a krovax s class tried 12 times ended up settling for a (A) class for now got sick of repeatedly doing it i don't know why they make us do the same thing over and over and over again it's a bit ridiculous. I like the new pirate freighter was hoping it would have a different main cockpit but still cool

Hello. Thank you very much for the tip. But one question, is it normal that the guns and shields stay red afterwards? When I fight against a sentinel freighter/ship, my cannons never fire. With my last freighter (sentinel freighter) my guns always fired. Is that a bug?

A lightly easier method I used to use (so I'm not 100% it will still work) for getting a freighter is to make manual saves at the in between systems. Then once you get the freighter battle, reload as you show in this video and jump to the outlaw system. BUT instead of going straight to the pirate freighter battle, you go to the space station and make an autosave there (getting out of you ship). You then exit the station and go back to the battle. If you find the freighter is lower in class than you want (i.e. not S-class), you reload the autosave which will put you back on the station in the outlaw system and all you have to do is fly to the battle. This way you save time not having to navigate the galaxy map and warping to the outlaw system :) *If this method no longer works, it's no big deal as all you need to do is reload the manual save and your back to exactly what the video explains.
