Some mathematicians refer to critical numbers as critical values, which as you said is the imput value. However, when referring to the point with the x coordinate and the y coordinate, it is then called a critical point instead of a critical number or critical value.

On second thought, instead of using the quadratic formula to factorise 3x^2+x×1, the Discriminant could have been used to show that there's no real roots, hence, no critical number.
