Last time I dyed with indigo, I finished it off by boiling the fabric and the silk pieces took on a very obvious pink color! It was a fun surprise. I never thought to use indigo for colors other than blue, now I learned more.

I'm sorry because I can't find indigo plants in my country 😔, but I'm going to experiment with plants that exist and maybe I can get similar results 🥰 Very beautiful 😍 Have a nice day 🥰

Fresh leaf indigo (persicaria tinctoria) is a very easy plant to grow in pots, so maybe you will be able to buy seeds at some point. Indirubin is specific to indigo, so you won't find it other plants, but you can certainly experiment with this technique to see if you can get some beautiful patterns and depths of shades with any plant you try 🤎

@@MargaretByrdColorQuest i actually found an article about manufacture of indirubin from woad. It's very chemical so i dont understand it haha. google "Method for preparing indigo and indirubin from dyers woad leaf" and it should show up.

Many thanks, I really enjoyed this. I think it may be too late this year as we are just into Autumn here now, but I will definitely try this next Summer. That pink is beguiling.

⁠@@MargaretByrdColorQuest Hi Margaret, it got sunny yesterday morning so I rushed out and grabbed some stalks of Japanese Indigo from my dye garden. I used jam jars and did as you did, one where the silk got squished with the leaves, the other where it was just layered in. I have just rinsed them-very exciting. I have pink, grey, a little blue and a sort of brick/terracotta. Great fun, thank you for the tutorial.
