*Looked at a lot of options for getting my **Latest.Bike** . Great find in SAVA. Super light, nice components, really good value as it comes with many options only found in much higher priced bikes.*

Very informative, I have an old Trek that I'm building up. Serial no M2D2B63, bought as a frame and fork with headset. Cosmetically it is a mess but I have been using it as a cruiser for rehabbing my back. I'm released by my doc and now waiting on a Shimano Golden Arrow groupset to rebuild and put back as a road bike. If it all fits like I think it will, I will sand blast and powder coat. I'll post pictures as it progresses. Thanks again for the videos.

Thank you so much. I bought a trek 870 and thanks to your helped I figured out it’s a 1988 with the brake lever on the bottom of the frame. Pretty different and neat. Thanks again

Really enjoyed the video I've been able to ID my trek as a 1984, 620. Not sure if I purchased the bike in 1984 or 1985 but by comparing serial numbers and product descriptions and components I think I've got it nailed as a 1984 bike.

I just picked up a Trek 311 for $30.00 with original parts from what ive researched.Plus it has a nice Jim Blackburn rack on it and in good condition and a in good condtion Avocet saddle,Rigida rims.That said it will need some tlc new tires,tubes,brake pads,chain and possibly derailer,cables and the seat post is stuck.Dropped it off at local bike shop so hopefully they can get it unstuck.Frame has very little surface rust.Crossing my fingers because i really want to keep this bicycle.I am 6ft and it fits me perfectly.Plus i love the retro look it brings back alot of good memories.i am willing to sink some $$ into it to bring it back to life.

What do you do with all the bikes you buy?
@doztacos89133 жыл бұрын
RJ I was wondering if it is pretty easy to convert a 6 gear freewheel to an 11 speed cassette on the back wheel. I guess I shouldn't use the word convert but replace. My concern is the width of the hub inlets on the frame. I am going to convert the current cassette with a shimano 105 11 speed drive train. I have already replaced the crankset but will be replacing the chain. Derailleur. And wheel. As well as an 11 speed friction downtube shifter. Thanks. Btw the frame is a 1987 elance 400.

Love the bar-end shifters! Can you do a video explaining the indexing/friction type?
@RJTheBikeGuy7 жыл бұрын
What do you mean?
@literoadie35027 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I guess there's no point since they're basically down-tube shifters that bolt to handlebars. I just want your take on them. I'm planning on using one just for a triple FD (the newest tiagra with the long pull arm) and wondering if it would work out, in friction mode of course. Also, do you know where I can find a single one since they cost at least £40 for Ultegra pair on CRC or wiggle. I know eBay's an option but was struggling to find anything. I've seen some 'SunRace' branded ones where you can choose the single left side option.
@RJTheBikeGuy7 жыл бұрын
Bar end shifters are just like downtube shifters in a different location. They were on the bars before brifters.

Any plans with the 613? Restoring it to factory? It'd be cool to see your take on re-painting
@RJTheBikeGuy7 жыл бұрын
I am planning to repaint it and new decals. Also repairing the holes some jackwad drilled into the downtube to mount cable stops.

Hey RJ, I've tried to search my schwinn beach cruiser the same way with no luck. Can you advise if you know where I can find it. In addition, I recently acquired a bicycle Corp of American new Yorker. Know anything about these?
@RJTheBikeGuy4 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you will find much. That's not one of their higher end bikes at. You will have to do research. Maybe this: www.schwinnbikeforum.com/SLDB/serial.htm

i miss the old lasting mountain bike.my new road bike often be flat tire,after fixing,it's run very good until today when its backward wheel was dropped into a deep gully and the tire was flat immediately.i don't know if i should modify it for a big tire as in a mountain bike?
@RJTheBikeGuy7 жыл бұрын
Get better tires. Try Bontrager Race Lite Hardcases. They are flat resistant. Or try Specialized Armadillos. The are very flat resistant.

Went to look up my bike, taken aback. I know trek only owned Bontrager and continued the frames for so long, but theres no mention of those models at all, even the ones made in trek factories. Any idea on how to identify these guys? I think mine is a privateer from 1998, but I would love to know for sure.
@RJTheBikeGuy7 жыл бұрын
Why are you surprised? The site mainly covers early vintage Treks up to 1986 or so. You just have to research. Try bikepedia.com
@ElJuegoDelMine7 жыл бұрын
Just surprised cause they have catalogs from Gary Fisher, Klein and Lemond on the site, just hoping to find that history there. Unfortunately, bikepedia doesn't quite give me my answer, (definitely wish that they had easy to find catalogs like vintage-trek, or information tied to the serial number)

Not really. Not all bikes are documented as well as the Treks. It can take a lot o research sometimes. Sometimes, you can just narrow it down some, and make a best guess.
