I'll definitely keep my options open, but I have read about the negative impacts of working night shifts or rotating shifts. Certainly, these are just some things to keep in mind when considering these night and/or rotating jobs.

Thanks for this video. I have pretty good couple years of IT experience, however it was in person, and I feel as if a lot of it being in person is coming across by looking at my resume (when applying for remote jobs), so the sample resume helped. Certain skills/IT experience needs to be emphasized more so than others for a remote gig, and it could honestly be "less impressive" stuff from an in depth technical perspective, but recruiters aren't even that technical a lot of the time, so they're looking at best fits and what not. The time to show off technical chops is during interviews.

Great video as always. I was wondering what you think of my current career plan: I started a help desk job in august of 2019 that also go me a secret clearance. During this job I got my bachelors in IT from WGU. In November of 2020 i started an associate system admin job. Currently, I have one class and my capstone and then I'm done with the masters for cybersecurity and information assurance at WGU. Once I finish I plan to study for and then take the CISSP. I know that I wont qualify for the full CISSP until August 2023. What job title do you think I should look for on indeed once I have my masters and associate cissp? Also I live near an air force base so there are a lot of positions that say CISSP or associate on the listing. thanks,
@JoshMadakor3 жыл бұрын
Hey Penguin, thanks! Really appreciate it. Your plan is really solid, honestly. Also If you get Security+ or a degree (I believe), it will knock a year off your CISSP time requirement. Also, your helpdesk experience may count toward your CISSP time requirement as well. You only have to work within 2 or 3 (i forget) of the CISSP security domains for the job to count. Most IT jobs is really easy to shoehorn that experience in there, so you MIGHT be able to obtain the actual credential sooner than you think. As far as which titles to go for, titles are weird and mean different things to different companies. Just look at the description and pay and pick something that you think looks fun. AND BEAR IN MIND, there is NO RULE that states you can't go from earning 50k to over 100k. If you have credentials and experience (even solo/lab exp), it's possible to get hired at decent paying jobs :) So try not to sell yourself short! Best of luck, and good on you for executing your plan so well thus far!

how do you use cloud computing services inside cybersecurity? Also, which is better to learn: AWS or Azure?
@JoshMadakor3 жыл бұрын
AWS is used more by businesses apparently, but I am an Azure person. I exclusively use azure--both are good, but for me, I prefer Azure :p. To answer the question about how do you use security inside of cloud, it's pretty much just like on-premise, but there is a "responsibility model" where the provider is responsible for some things (such as physical security of the data centers) and the customer is responsible for some things (like managing encryption keys and ensuring proper access control). Share responsibility model: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/security/fundamentals/shared-responsibility Azure Cloud security benchmark (i worked on this as a contractor at MS): docs.microsoft.com/en-us/security/benchmark/azure/introduction Hope this helps!!

@@JoshMadakor Thats great! my dream is to be able to work from Mexico so I would be able to be with my friends and family down there. Currently, I am based in Las Vegas and I am trying to find a 100% remote job right now.

Is it possible to have a USA based job in the IT field that is entry level and remote I can work over seas with?

I live in Thailand and even I change the site to English, it only translates the first layer and a search for remote is IMPOSSIBLE :( as well as every further layer of the site obviously insist to use my location for language settings without me being able to change it! :( am I the bad Technician or is it the site? indeed? ... do you have other recommendations for similar platforms? Thx , B :)

Why do these tech companies pay so low but require so much to get hired?

Got my CompTia A+ certificate and can’t get a Job 🤦🏾♂️ it’s so messed up when you live in Jamaica 😢 the system is designed to hold us back I don’t know why.

Idk this kinda feeds into the desperation that the job market is feeding on and wants job seekers to have... We are in inflation.. 15-20 an hour would be exactly that anymore with 30% inflation rise.
@JoshMadakor3 жыл бұрын
Ah you mean like, we shouldn't be accepting too low of pay? I generally agree with this. The places that offer low pay are generally bad places to work at and will have a lot of turn-over :(

@@JoshMadakor Yeah, completely serious. The second time it's happened. Thought the first time was a coincidence, but noticed it again when I searched for your videos to see if you've covered a topic.

Thanks for this, I'm literally doing this exact thing at the moment, just did a quick interview a hour ago too.. just incase I don't land that job, what is good pay? Because I thought $18 was alright.. are we looking for $30/hr?
@JoshMadakor3 жыл бұрын
Hey! congrats on the interview, I hope you get it. It really depends on the job to be honest. I feel like anything less than $25/hr is kind of low these days. But again, it depends on where/what you're doing :).
