You either need to find two values and add them or find two values and subtract them. Drawing a picture can help you determine which you need to do.

Loved the explanation but this is wrong. He went to 0.5 on the table when he should've went to -0.5 which would've gave a different answer.

This example uses a zero-to-z table which only has positive values. If you use a decumulative table (which has -z values), you get the area to the left. This gives you areas between 0 and z. The two tables contain the same information presented differently.
