So should I look for a dentist for full arch restoration, or dental surgeons? Or Periodontists? Or Prosthodontists? Who's doing the implants? How can I make sure I go to a general dentist, he/she refers me to their preferred "surgeon" for the extractions/bone graft/implant placement, and then general dentist request prothesis lab to fab the denture/snap-on/all-on-4 prosthesis, and then when my gum healed, the parts ready from the lab (abutment, the denture), the general dentist "assemble" the prosthesis together? How can I make sure my implants are parallel as Dr. McFadden mentioned in his other video? Even Dr Choi from NTDS said snap on implants needs to be parallel. If I go to a general dentist, how can I be sure the "dental" surgeon of their usual choice is practicing what's I think should happen or "request", but I'm "forced" to use whatever my general dentists "recommends"? I know Dr Choi is a periodontists and he does bone graft and implants, on the other hand, I think he does not deal with the making of prothesis. Does Dr. McFadden also do implants or knows periodontists/dental surgeons who place implants vertical? If I look for my local prosthodontists, does it mean they probably only specialized in prosthesis but have someone else do the implants? I have been other dentists and look for consultations, but they can't give me the answer to "Do I have enough bone for implant", they defers to the surgeon, or he/she can maybe make a decision based on the CBCT scan, but that might not be what the surgeon thinks?

This seems like a good tip, although if I get referred to endo by my dentist, it's kinda hard to ask and get a honest answer to whether my endo actually thinks they are good. They might just be close by. I've settled on a few things that seem to indicate a decent dentist. First is that they do inlays/onlays, second is they offer gold work, especially if they do gold foil, and if they offer SDF. SDF is a good sign because it's super effective but not a money maker so if they offer it that means they are not just about the $$$. Then there is how they treat you and others. Online reviews are only good for knowing if someone is extremely bad.

This is the only video I’ve watched of yours where I have to respectfully disagree. As someone who has worked administratively for over 18 years in dentistry in both specialty (periodontist) and general dentistry if your receptionist is experienced he/she has more information than you realize. Since specialist work with general dentists they are very reluctant to recommend a general dentist in fear of damaging their relationships with other general dentists and making it seem that they prefer one over the other. With that said your best bet is word of mouth and asking to see their cosmetic cases or their “brag book/portfolio.” Sometimes it takes a few tries before you can find the right office but it’s worth the effort. This is going to be a life long relationship. Be mindful and trust your gut instinct. Research reviews but take them with a grain of salt a lot are fake. See how the office responds to negative reviews. ❤

It appears you are a very ethical person. I admire that! And, I agree, many front office employees are very knowledgeable. My point here is that most offices, because of some financial gain (staff bonuses, the other dentist/ specialist is a friend, that office gives us concert tickets, parties are related, etc.), many referrals are made for egregious reasons not because that particular dentist is extremely good at any particular procedure. I am also of the belief that the vast majority of all dental procedures could have been completed in a better way than they were.... I see a lot of compromised outcomes in my practice and that begs the question, "was the dentist incompetent or were they trying to make more money by hurrying through the procedure?" Many staff members don't even know when the dentist they are working for is technically challenged as they have never see the procedure done well.

@@davidmcfadden878 I 100% agree with you. This is why in an effort to learn more about my profession I spend time really understanding the procedures performed. I love this chanel because I am learning so much about dental implants. I’m no dentist. I’m not even as assistant although I have all the basic certifications to be one. I want to be able to have the tools I need to help take care of my patients and help them make an informed decision on their treatment. I don’t believe in pressuring patients to do cosmetic work and I’m more about educating them for why their oral health is vital component to the health of their entire body. I’ve worked for general dentists that refuse to relinquish control of their procedures performing work that should have been done in a specialist office just for production purposes and I’ve seen specialist refer patients to general dentists just because they’re part of the same study group. There are also dentists that will force a patient into a crown when all they needed was a filling and a night guard and hygienists that do 4 quads of deep cleaning on patients with 2-3mm pockets. It makes me sick and very sad. I guess my point was administrative staff is the first to hear and know if patients like their general dentist office. They see how offices are run and get immediate feed back directly from patients. Now although I might have all that information I never refer a patient to a dental office ever. No matter what kind of goodies or freebies the office gets. I tell patients don’t be afraid to divorce your current office if your unhappy. It really might take a few tries but trust your instinct. You should feel like you are in a clean, safe, comfortable environment where the Dr and the staff listen to your questions, comments, and concerns. My best advice to patients. Educate yourself. You have options and you have access to resources. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. 💕🦷

Your attention to detail and the quality of your work speaks volumes to me. You are the type of provider we need more of. Quality over quantities and a true boutique style of practice. With so many offices selling to DSO companies in my state it terrifies me that patients will be sucked into the marketing of what I call fast food dentistry.
