Brother I Wouldn't Do A Drop Pitman Arm . That Stock Should Be Good For The Lift You Have . If You Are Looking For Adj. Control Arms Look At "Core 4X4" They Sale Different Tiers . That's What I Went With And They Came With New Bolts! Some Of Mine Were Rusted So Bad Had To Cut Them Out

Iv ehad my jeep a bit more sharp in steering it was great, than I put d44 and d60 on and it got loose, One thing is longer sway bars will make the steering feel better too, but that's with all the goodies on
@fishhuntadventure Жыл бұрын
6:44 the story is it is best to fix the suspension to function properly and get rid of the ‘stabilizer.’ Mine has been gone for years and it was a great improvement losing it.
@SmokinMonkeyOG Жыл бұрын
Stabilizer still helps a bit with bump steer but you’re right your suspension will make the bigger difference if it’s worn out

I think I'm headed for a steering gear replacement. I have replaced everything else in the steering linkage, have had the vehicle aligned and still have significant "wander" in the steering, particularly when driving on rutted pavement. The ruts literally deflect the wheels and cause the vehicle to "squirm". My '06 LJ has a 2" spring spacers lift, 1" wheel spacers and is running 33X12.5/15 tires and brand new Rancho MT 7000 shocks. Trying to get this thing (literally) straightened out so that I can get it sold.
@SmokinMonkeyOG2 жыл бұрын
Lmao it’s a Jeep with over sized tires; it will always drive like that. My brand new 2022 wanders too

Thanks for the info... I have just installed a rebuilt steering box I purchased from a local auto parts store and my steering shaft moves and tires do not, which seems to excessive... Do they make the proper adjustment on when the rebuilds are done, or should I attempt an adjustment to illuminate the play, thanks for your help.
@SmokinMonkeyOG3 жыл бұрын
No idea if they set it correctly or not when they rebuild because it’s always up to the guy rebuilding it so you never know for sure. Doesn’t hurt to try and adjust it yourself that’s why the adjustment screw is there

Thanks for the video I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 I recently put 3-in spacers on it and now it has a major vibration and shaking every time I go to come to a stop and it's starting to develop a little even as I'm riding or taking off but it's really more noticeable when I hit the brakes but it wasn't doing any of that before the 3-in spacer lift what do you think could be causing this I've got under there and checked everything seems to be tight except for I'm not sure about the tie rod I can take my hand and put it on the tie rod and turn it frontward or backward pretty easy but when I try to move any of my tires left to right or front to back there is no movement at all they're solid any ideas?
@SmokinMonkeyOG Жыл бұрын
I would check if you have any worn out steering parts and start there. Other than that I don’t know what would cause your vibration

Ya someone else pointed that out a long time ago. It’s been addressed, I replaced the worn out hardware with a new nut and bolt
@oxmate Жыл бұрын
should the drag link bar move up and down? there is no movement back and forth
@SmokinMonkeyOG Жыл бұрын
You should be able to rotate it but not move the bar. Might be a loose bolt on the adjustment sleeve or one of the ends. But mine had movement and it ended up being a loose bolt so I would start there

Hey man I have a question for you. Ever since I’ve gotten my Jeep the steering wheel will adjust either left or right when driving on uneven road. Like if the road is slanted to the right I have to turn my wheel to the left to keep it straight. And of the road is slanted to the left I have to turn my wheel to the right to keep it straight. What could this be?
@taylorleteff27172 жыл бұрын
About a year ago I replaced my ball joints, track bar, stabilizer, tie rods and tie rod ends. It helped it drive smoother but never fixed this issue. I also have 33in tires
@SmokinMonkeyOG2 жыл бұрын
That’s how a solid axle vehicle drives. Even my brand new 2022 which I bought with zero miles drives like that. It’s just a Jeep thing lol. Every car actually will have this problem but it’s more noticeable on Jeeps because of the solid axle and having both front tires connected to each other at all times. One of the joys of driving a Jeep
@taylorleteff27172 жыл бұрын
Smokin Monkey I was hoping it was something like that. I don’t mind it at all but I’m glad it’s normal lol. I was worried my jeep had a serious issue. Thanks for the knowledge.

The track bar bolt at the axle is loose. This caused me to wreck. The bolt came out and I lost all steering
@SmokinMonkeyOG3 жыл бұрын
Shit I’m glad you’re okay man. I appreciate the feedback. I caught that one too, replaced the nut and bolt with a new set. Now it doesn’t come loose any longer.

No swaybar links?
@SmokinMonkeyOG3 жыл бұрын
Nope. I don’t run a sway bar in the front. I use my Jeep for off-roading only. The most driving on road I do is getting to the trail and back.
