Hi! I have an 1.8T AUQ engine. The first hose that you showed that had disconnected, Mine had a large crack. I am hearing loud whisteling on boost and it flutters when releasing throttle, car is also running low on power, idle is perfekt. Might this be the cause or do I have more leaks?

Thanks man.. I had a fucking annoying whistle and i thought it was the clutch release bearing, watched your video and checked the PCV valve and hose first...valve was stuck and the hose was as floppy as granddad. Thanks bro

Its either over pressurized (bad PCV valve) or there is a crack someone in one of your lines. Is your car also a TT?

i have a jeep liberty 2009 my car is having trouble staying on. only stays on when i step on thw gas little by little but once i left go of the gas it shuts down . i took a look in the hood and notice the pcv vales hows its busted and disconnect could that be why . also i was told i need a knew crankshaft sensor could those 2 be the reason why the one not staying on . it kind of vibrates then shut off

I would start with the crank shaft sensor. Cars will run like shit when the sensor is dying and won't run at all when the sensor is fully dead. With broken PCV hoses. You should be able to run the car. It will just run like crap.

the only code that popped up was the evap leak p-456 . and the crankshaft sensor i really hope it works . one more thing sometimes the car door locks and unlocked and turnes the lighhs on and off and windows go up and down out no where . i think it has to do with the car computer or something :(

Fantastic video and very informative. So many people substitute PCV for PRV (the black hockey puck) and it just creates one big mess. My rpms jump and dip as if they were on a trampoline, so I'll have to check the valve out. A bit of fuss to get to it by the looks of it, but it's worth a try.

I would also recommend doing some research on throttle position sensor and the throttle relearn process if the Audi has one. My Nissan had a really Squirrley idol so I did a throttle relearn process and it fixed the issue.

@@Rythecarguy Thanks for the tips! I have a the same TT as you in the video, that's what brought me here. If I am not mistaken, the throttle on the TT can realign itself so you don't need to, although I am not sure that is 100% correct.

Question, anyone who knows... I bought a new PCV. I blew into one side horizontally (the way it is installed on my engine) and it had an air leak. Vertically, there was no air leak. I returned it and got another one, but the same issue? Maybe my lungs are not as strong as an engine! What do I do? Order another one? On my engine (toyota) it is a difficult R&R.

I cleaned my PCV (maybe 4 years old) in my 1999 Corolla in spray parts cleaner ... very thoroughly and then shook dry an set for 10 minutes to dry out. Rough idle 'sputter' went away. This may a good argument for buying a digital meter (about $40-100) for your car to spot a few things like this so you can replace them yourself. If you are at all handy and take some patience and have a sharp 'car geek' to guide you... give him plenty of cash to help you find and replace parts that need it (plugs, coilsm fuel injectors, PCV, stiff and cracked hoses, etc.). TELL him how much you appreciate what he knows how to do and you get a much better deal and better help... see ? It's common sense.

@@Rythecarguy I own a 2004 Mazda 6s and I had a leaking PCV hose last week when the master technician at Pep Boys told me why I was getting engine warning codes P0171 and P0174. He told me that I needed to get my six spark plugs replaced out of nowhere because my car was idling rough beyond the leaking hose. In your case, the rough idling on your car was from the leaking PCV hose from watching your video. What a shocking surprise that you just had to do a simple fix. My car had 120,100 miles on the odometer.

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L. My PCV is rattling like crazy. At idle especially. Yes, I know they are supposed to let pressure come and go, especially at idle where Vacuum is highest, but this is not normal. You should NOT here the valve rattling like a buzzer from inside the truck. I have replaced them several times, but I now have to try to find out why this would happen if its NOT a bad PCV, and how to find the issue...Any ideas?

+Blaydrnnnr - I had the same thing happen to my Dad's Truck. Here is what I did to it... Take 2 - O'Rings that would fit around the " Bottom " of your PCV. Doing that would " Raise " the height up and away from the Engine a bit. NOTE: After doing that, our PCV stop rattling :D.

+Blaydrnnnr - I forgot to NOTE: You might have Blow By.... Next step would be an " Oil Catch Can ". I just got one for our Truck, it's $15.00 and come with everything I need it. I just got it installed, I will update soon with a Video. Here is how you know.... Take your PCV out, clean it... Drive for about 50 Miles... If you smell a lot of Gas Vapor or Oil + Gas Vapor, then chances are Blow-By is happening in your Engine. Like what I did..., " Oil Catch Can " was my next option to Catch all that Blow-By / Gunks, etc...

If you really want to fix issues and gain some mpg/pwr as well as lower your emissions, you should just reroute the pcv to your main intake (before throttle body) and cap-off the intake-manifold vacuum. The pcv steals vacuum from the engine which is required to vaporize fuel. With the pcv siphoning engine-vacuum, combustion is weakened creating more blowby, more wasted fuel and higher emissions. Cap off the intake-manifold vacuum for the pcv and see for yourself how much your car drives better.

I just changed my PCV valve in my 2006 Nissan Altima because it was burning lots of oil. It have no oil leaks. But it still Burns lots of all. Would a PCV hose leak cause it to burn oil?

what if you take out your pcv valve and stick your finger inside the valve cover port the pcv was in and inside is some black oil that is kinda charcoal like

+Free Spirit - That means NOT all of the Oil / Evaporation being exit correctly or Oil / Blow By is leaking more than it suppose to. You next option would be an " Oil Catch Can ". Search on KZbin or in my Channel, I have a Video that I just bought / review an Oil Catch Can for $15.00. I just put it on my Dad's Truck, I still haven't done the Video yet on how much it catches... Take few months. But maybe you can " Research " on it, before you go that route.
