Dear Katie. My wife and I have enjoyed your channel for a good while now and are so impressed with your perseverance. I do recall from time to time you make mention of some challenging moments you endure, as do most of us yes. I'm compelled to say to you that for most of what we see and hear you truly already possess the answers to conquer many to most any turmoil that may rise into your life, you share them with us all in nearly every show. Our art styles really do happen organically. A few months ago I lined up some recent pieces I completed and it took me by surprise when I noticed a common style among them. I know your videos have helped me loosen up my brush strokes and paint more “messy” and impressionistic, which I never imagined I would be comfortable doing, but I can’t imagine myself painting any other way now! I also think our style is always evolving, and it’s so easy to fall into creating what’s comfortable and easy. There is nothing wrong with this, as it can be relaxing and calming to work with familiarity. And it’s exciting to try new things out and integrate techniques we’ve not experimented with before!

I've been doing watercolour for two years now and I like loose style. It's been a month or so that I started working with acrylics and I'm in love ❤️. I absolutely love working with the palette knife more than the brush and, as in watercolour, I like loose style. I love the thickness and creaminess and I'm crazy about the smell of acrylics and canvases lol. You, Katie, are so inspiring and I love your paintings ❤️

I absolutely love everything about this. I am tuck up in bed about to go to sleep and I am going to drift off and think about you magical words. It so hard not to compare yourself to others. I have accepted that I am a bold artist whole love bright colours. I am capable of softer colours but I create what speaks to me. It’s hard sometime as your follower may ask of you for other creations, or you feel pressured to create what they want and that’s when stress comes. So your words spoke to Me. Great painting & video! I get so frustrated sometimes that I haven’t found my “true” style; but I’m having fun finding it too! I think one think that has helped me narrow it down a bit is sticking to one thing for sometime and then do the next and sticking to that for sometime too. For instance, the same subject matter or the same color palette.

So interesting to hear your thoughts on this! I'll think a lot about what you said. Question, if you feel it's okay to answer this. If not, I'll just have to try to figure it out myself. The sort of "smokey" effect you have in some of the sky in this picture, where you can barely see the transition from one shade to the next - do you use quite dry paint or more water, or is there a specifc way to get that? This really is a stunning painting by the way! I think it might be one of my favourites of your paintings.

I have about 7 main art styles, but only digitally. 😅 My favorite one is called Akiry, I make it extremely soft and mid sharp, sort of to make them as if they are glowing or like angel-ish. Then, Yomaika, sort of my anime-ish art. After that is Azory, named after my first character in that art style, it has more geometric and a cartoon feel to it. Then Vida, life in Spanish, it's my realistic type. And one of my more inspired art style by a Russian artist named Ripli, it's more of a furry only style. And any others art either is because I want to try and challenge myself to do a new random and special one or is a way of seeing how difficult another person's art is. I've seen many different ways of doing art it's very beautiful, and I absolutely can't wait for the future. 😏

This was a video I needed in my life this morning. As an artist I find myself struggling constantly with how others think I should create (mediums styles, etc.) and how I want to create. I find that is the toughest thing that weighs on my mind. It was not something that used to bother me until I started selling my work and becoming more of a professional. I'm still learning how to deal with it really and I must say I'm not very good at it. I question myself often and then struggle to create since I let the expectations get to me. I recently took a break from social media to combat this but once back it seems like it starts all over again. Do you have ways to remind yourself that you create for you and not others?

Hi Katie, I enjoy watching your tutorials and vologs The information that you have shared has been helpful. Will you give us more tips on transitioning into a full time artist. I'm dealing with some aspects of my personality that do not align with business sense. I enjoy giving my friend and family unique gifts. So, I've focused on charcoal portraits. So, I have a large group of friends and family following a 30 year career as a teacher. The personal gifts have allowed me to polish and hon my skills and grow as an artist.
