I have watched your master class several times and I must say when you mentioned the textile industry, my heart jumped. I have been running an online vintage quilt business for 7 years. I am also a certified health and wellness coach. So hard to choose between the two! I love your advice, and I look forward to working with you and figuring this out!

It’s so important to choose a niche that you’re genuinely passionate about. Keep in mind, by choosing one you don’t have to give up the other. You can always change it down the road or even add a second niche if you’d like!

I’ve been going through WYWTF and at first didn’t think I’d get hung up on my niche but after changing it several times I’ve come back to where I started. I appreciate he advice to not get hung up on whether it “profitable” and to focus on what you want to spend your time writing about! Thanks Sarah!

You’re so welcome! The most important thing to consider is what you’re truly passionate about. You can make just about any niche profitable.

I have been in the trucking industry for 20 years, was thinking about niches and figured that’s probably a good place to start.

What's most important when picking a niche is that you're genuinely passionate about it. You'll be spending a ton of time reading, researching, and writing about this topic. You'll definitely want to choose something you're interested in.

Thank you for the great content! I have been in the rat race for so long that I have NO IDEA what I'm passionate about. I have really struggled with the work/life balance and I'm ready for a change, but I really don't know where to start... not sure there is a niche for a PC gamer/fantasy/sci-fi nerd...if there is I haven't found it yet! :D

You can find a niche based on just about any of your passions. Try making a list of businesses you think you'd enjoy working with based off your interests and go from there. You got this!

Hey Sarah, there are 3 possible niches that I'm thinking about. Baseball, wildlife, and Pokémon. What do you think about those options?
@SarahTurnerAgency Жыл бұрын
I typically recommend making a list of businesses in each niche you'd like to work with to give you a better idea of who you'd be reaching out to. You can also write practice pieces in each niche to see what you most enjoy writing about.

This is great, Sarah, thank you! I'm in WYW2F and loving it. Currently debating whether mental health or publishing would be better niches to try.

I'm assuming supplements are in both health & wellness as well as beauty & wellness. I am curious about supplements as a niche and anything more detailed about this area. There are many subgroups of supplement folks - bigger companies owned by big pharma down to mom-and-pop companies that make medicinal mushroom supplements. I would like to better wrap my head around how to approach this niche (or sub-niche), if you would be willing to unpack this a bit more, Sarah. Is this too narrow? Thank you for all these great informational videos!!! You're the best.😄

The more you research your niche the better you'll understand the businesses within that niche. Remember you definitely want to choose a niche you enjoy researching, reading, and writing about. You'll be doing a lot of it! Keep in mind, many of us start with a more general niche and get a little more specific over time - especially once we get a better idea of what we enjoy most. For example, I started with health and wellness and slowly started focusing on the specialties of gut health and keto. I'd recommend practicing writing copy for businesses you think you'd want to work with and see how you enjoy it.

When you mention a niche, and how a person's past experience or expert knowledge will help. I am a published outdoor writer for over 23 years. I want to provide copy content to the companies and big retailers that sell or make these products. Bass Pro Shops, Strike King Lures, ect. How do i approach these industries? This si the number one thing holding me back because I cant write persuasive content about anything outdoor related.

There are so many options in this niche so if that’s what you’re passionate about, it’s a great way to get started! Keep in mind, copywriting is all about getting the reader to take the next action. This could be signing up for a newsletter, giving an email address, or buying a product. Just continue taking everything one step at a time. You’ll strengthen your copywriting skills and soon realize you know a lot more than you thought. 😊

Hi Sarah, Do you think that beginning with two niches is spreading myself too thin? One is product based and the other service. I figured it would be a good way to gain experience and just wanted to know what you thought? Love your videos!

Thanks! I love the idea of finding common ground in your multiple niche interests. At the end of the day, it’s your business and you can decide what works best for you. Part of learning what works best is trying things out. I’d practice writing copy in both niches and see if one feels better than the other. And if you truly love writing in both and can’t find the common ground, go for it!

can niches become oversaturated? like lets say fitness. or do u just have to go deeper into the niche
@SarahTurnerAgency2 жыл бұрын
There are so many businesses out there, and all of them need copy. Between that and the fact that a lot of copywriters don’t offer every copywriting service because they’ll end up specializing in what they enjoy most, just about any niche can be profitable - and could almost never become oversaturated. Also keep in mind copywriters can typically only have a handful of clients anyway. Time limits us to how many clients we can take on at a time. So just focus on what you enjoy writing about and who you enjoy helping the most. :)
