It's funny how I went from one extreme to the other. Played with Pure Strikes 16x19 for a few generations and loved it for my backhand but could never consistently hit my forehands with the same speed and precision. Then ended up getting severe tennis elbow with the rackets and switched to the Blade 98 V8 18x20 and have not looked back.

Extremely reasonable imo, margins between different 98s are so thin, I'd be relatively happy with almost anything on the list
@LoosSerine

@@TennCom The problem I've got is, though my forehand and serves are hitting with a lot more power, I'm still struggling to get the same depth and power that I had with my backhand when I was using the Pure Strike. I can barely play a set now with those without starting to feel my tennis elbow creep in. I think part of it may be psychological as well as generally I feel I can't generate as much power with the Blades, just more control.

Genuinely curious, how come you dislike the Blade so much, but I read it’s the most used racquet on Tour?
@TennCom
@TennCom Жыл бұрын
Its used on tour in its previous versions. Old Blades were much stiffer and had higher swingweights so they worked perfectly for advanced players in the modern game. The consumer criticism suggested that they were a bit too unwieldy and uncomfortable for recreational play, so Wilson dropped the stiffness and the swingweight. Now, the Blade isn't the pro racquet it once was, but in my eyes, a neutered version, lacking what used to make it special.

Am catching this vid 10 months later, but it's just as relevant as the day you released it. What you've done here is assess the intangibles beyond the standard specs (weight, balance, swingweight, flex, and string pattern). These soooo affect a frame's playability. And yet, no one's captured them in a comparison, let alone one that ranks so many racquets. I can't imagine how long it took to do this, but the product is positively amazing; a tool I'll absolutely reference into the future...

Auxetic Extreme Tour. Checks every box for me. Arm comfort. Spin. Control. Good on both the forehand and one handed backhand. Bottom line is that I enjoy playing it with more than any other racket and feel confident hitting a wide variety of shots with it. I also play well with the Pure Aero VS and 98 but eventually got won over by the softer feel of the Auxetic ET. My tennis elbow has all but disappeared since switching to it.

Which 98s, if any, are suitable for a 3.5-4.0 player and are more forgiving than most 98s? Some of the ones I was thinking of are the extreme tour, pure aero 98, vcore 98, and solinco whiteout. Or are 98s simply not meant for that level and I'm better off going for the 100 square inch rackets?

As an intermediate/club player, I think cosmetics are a huge part of a decision. Youre gonna see the racket every time you hit the ball, and I personally like to fire me up watching how gorgeous and agressive my paintwork looks as I enter the court and play. Obv thats purely subjective, but I think Radical MP its outstanding among the others (I love my Radical MP), and that makes me want to fit my game to the racket, and improve with the feedback i get from it. With that being said, if youre an amateur player, follow your heart, tennis its a beautiful game to enjoy and to feel good about yourself. Love

Wow love this video! Thanks for the detailed breakdown and for explaining things in layman’s terms on top of the technical terms. I am confused as to why you put the ezone very low on both power rankings (on- and off-centre) given that it’s considered a power racket
@TennCom
@TennCom Жыл бұрын
To me, swingweight dominates the "power" experience and twistweight dominates the "forgiveness" experience. The EZONE has a lower swingweight and twistweight so its actual power deliver isn't that high compared to something heavier. The string pattern is also quite dead feeling to me due to how tight it is. IMO the EZONE is more of a modern control racquet, despite Yonex's marketing of it being in the power class.
@Kaddikt
@Kaddikt Жыл бұрын
@@TennCom thanks for replying. Interesting. In your experience, how does its power compare to other modern control racquet, say like a head gravity? I don’t know what you mean by modern control but I’m assuming it’s like head gravity that gives both control and power (“controlled power”). As opposed to pro staff or yonex percept, which are classic control racquets that give less power/depth

Would you recommend the solinco 98 if im looking for a really maneuverable racket with a solid feel in hand of a higher recoil weight? Im currently using a pro staff v13 97 with these specs 346 weight, 32.2 cm balance, sw 335, mgri 20.88 and recoil 165. i really like my current racket but sometimes its not as forgiving because im a flat hitter that likes to full swing. A racket that a really love is the gravity pro but dont think its maneuverable enough for me.
@TennCom
@TennCom 11 ай бұрын
The recoil weight on the Whiteout isn't that higher considering its swingweight given the 32cm balance point. Finding something with a lower BP will help you get a 165+ RW without having to raise the swingweight too high. That said, the Whiteout has enough inherent stability for my game that I was able to go with a 5 points lower RW compared to my Extreme Tour and still feel more confident on returns than before while getting higher racquet head speed.

I can't actually think of any white strings that are also shaped. The best is probably regular Head Hawk white.

Hi there Beckett Congratulations on your Tennis Warehouse sponsorship! Great job, NO IDEA how you pulled that number off. Tennis Warehouse is one mighty big fish. Well done boads well for many more interesting tennis videos. Need your opinion on an important question. It will sound innocuous perhaps even superfluous but stick with me please, as I do appreciate this is slightly off topic. In a knife slice or a floating slice from a top 10 ATP player. Which one do think would sound the loudest? Sorry man I can't give any more hints because all I really need is a candid opinion. Thank you Beckett and WTG on landing such a big fish! Knew you could do it man, Kudos! 😎😲👍👍

thanks Rich! I would guess the knifing slice sounds the loudest based on the assumption they are swinging harder at it.

@@TennCom ok thanks muchly. Makes sense, this guy definitely was cracking it a good one. Only got a glimpse, but enough to see it wasn't coming back! Smoked it as though he had done it all his life. Really remarkable speed, sinister spin a sinker stinker. It was like a mini thunder clap, no joke startlingly strong backhand. Clapped it a good one, everytime all the time, clearly a favourite shot but the most remarkable? It went straight parallel to the ALLEY (edit) over the highest part of the net cool as a cucumber. If I was able to do his shot half as fast I'd be very very happy. Well now I have to watch the show more closely, Tennis Warehouse can have very decent deals. Still chuckling at some of the cameos you and your buddy had going on in this video... HILARIOUS 🤭👋

I assume Becket has not tried the TF40, because if he had he might not be using the Whiteout. Both great racquets. Something about foam filled sticks just works for me.

Amazing video man I’ve watched it like 10 times already. As a low intermediate I’m looking to transition from 100” so I still like having free power. Would the Boom Pro still be a good option even though it ranked poorly? I like stability and lots of topspin. Was considering ET and new VCore as well but the BP is like half their price right now.
@TennCom
@TennCom 10 ай бұрын
Boom Pro's can come with higher swingweights which can be tougher to manage depending on your physique/technique. If you are dedicated to your improvement, the higher swingweight will help you long term in developing early preparation and having more robust footwork, but it might not be the best choice if you want to see instant results.

V core 98 is rated so bady in every aspect but at then end its top 3 and top 5 overall 😅
@TennCom
@TennCom 10 ай бұрын
thinking there's such thing as a "bad" rating in any of these categories is largely missing the point of this video. Subjectivity is king when it comes to racquet reviews and this video is meant to illustrate how different racquets play through different characteristics so you can set your own priorities when searching for a new racquet.

now i'm currently using Tfight 305. and it's so great. its match with my game style but, after a few hours its kinda too heavy for me.. what another racket would you recommend : - Solinco whiteout 18x20 - Head speed Pro - Gravity Family ( MP , Tour , or Pro ) or you have another recommendation with same sensation / feel.

Have the same dilemma. Tfight is super good for me but over 1 hour my hand is just tired Based on the list seems like radical MP is the way to go but contemplating the Whiteout 18x20 or even the XTD 18x20 version. Curious if Beckett has tried the xtd. Lol spending money on rackets is fun
