Further to my previous comment I changed to the Aero 100 as I found it could do everything pretty well. It gave me more ability to hit spin on low balls compared to Head Speed MP also I find it good for hitting flatter more penetrating shots as well as spin. I used to have an Aero VS98 it had good power but not as much control as the Aero 100 IMO. I haven’t tried the Aero 98 I may give it a try but I am pretty happy with 100 and I have three of them ! The strings can make a difference of course ie more feel, spin, control or power. Thanks for your passionate and informed review.

I changed to the 100 sq inch Aero as the Head Speed MP was also 100 inch. I have played with the VS 98 Aero and decided to change to a Technifibre 98 18/20 as was playing a flatter style now using more topspin and the Aero 100 is a good all rounder no real weakness imo

Picked the 100 and cannot be more happy with it, coming from head extreme tour 98. I tend to hit uncleanly with my 98 extreme and decided to take the 100, I don't believe how powerful and spinny my ball is using this racket... it's more forgiving yet a very powerful racquet, very fast in the air. One of your best videos. I have played with 30 different rackets this years and i yes every racket makes you play shots as its famous players. 98 for example makes you to take the ball early and attacki a 45 degree forehand. Gravity pro makes slice from the base line like a pro None of the above made me play better than a V core 95, which made me play all the shots but with Control

@nilartcom Жыл бұрын
I've got both and they are quite similar. More power and launch angle on the Shift but at the same time it's more manoeuvrable which helps swing faster, apply more spin and keep the ball in. Slightly less control on the Shift.

I was using the vcore 95 but found iota heavy and low powered for my loopy topspin swing. I began using today the extreme tour and it’s lightness and more power is better for my strokes. I demoed the pure aero 100 but did not like it’s feel. Tried the pure aero va and found it stiff. Have not tried the pure aero 98 but I sometimes mis hit and think the extreme tour should be more forgiving. Maybe I’ll try the 98 but will have the extreme tour as my racket.
@RacketsRunnersVancouver Жыл бұрын
The Extreme Tour is definitely more forgiving and mis-hits do get punished big time with the 98, but I think its overall playability is something most people will really appreciate.
@willydasquid1615 Жыл бұрын
I don’t really understand people saying the 98 is a difficult racket to use. I’m a 3.0 that was using a boom pro before making the switch, and I immediately was more consistent in just about every aspect. I did notice my volleys I was being punished a bit more, but all that did was force me to use my non dominant hand and legs for volleys which made me improve. This was nothing like when I used the gravity pro, where I loved the feel, but I knew after 20 minutes I was no where near ready for that racket sadly.

Also the open stringsbed doesn´t give you much control on flat shots. How does the pure aero 98 perform here? And Is it more comparable with the open stringbed of the Pure Aero 2019 or does it feel more like Pure Aero 2023?
@RacketsRunnersVancouver10 ай бұрын
Yes, I understand what you mean. The 98 will be better than the 100 but both are significantly better than the 2019 for what you are looking for. Babolat made the pattern much denser on this version of the 100.

The dampening technology they're using nowadays is quite effective IMO, but, it's not the most comfortable racket out there. It's still more jarring than 80% of rackets right now. In terms of strings, go all out for spin; my favourite in the 98 is RPM Rough.

Thanks for another great video. Your reviews are to me some of the most nuanced, precise, and above all, relatable. What would be for you the minimum level required to grab the 98 ? I feel I'm currently in the zone between intermediate and advanced. In that zone where you feel you wish your 100's racket would give you more directional control, feel, etc... but still not good enough to grab a player racket. I play with a 2018 pure drive that gives me exactly what you said about about the 100 aero: easy depth, spin, net clearance, a solid rally ball from the back of the court. However, I still feel it lacks a bit of precision, feed back, and directional control, especialy for the attacking/approach shot/ moving forward to the net. I recently tried the t fight iso 305, which I loved, but too demanding for my level I'm afraid. Currently trying out the speed mp, a promising frame : similar to a pure drive, with a bit less easy depth and spin, but more precise...

Thank you very much, really nice to hear! I think 4.0 is a good level for the 98, but a good 3.5 could probably grow into it as well. All 9/10 condition with full headguards: Cortex aero storm 300 GT aero storm tour GT aero pro drive And just for fun I picked up 2 graphene xt speed mps which I’m gonna bring to sinner spec. £140 TOTAL. This is THE place to buy refurbished old rackets if you can navigate Japanese websites. That said, as I get started on this project I wanted to ask you if you have any advice when it comes to using older frames. Obviously rackets don’t last forever, but there are a lot of different theories out there when it comes to graphite decay, loss of stiffness etc. Is it even possible to compare a cortex aero storm to a modern pure aero 98 given the raw age of the former? I’m really interested in this type of exploration especially because I found this foreign market that makes it affordable, but if old rackets are just DOA it seems not worth it. I’m sure this also varies by frame. Sorry tldr do you have much experience playing with old (age wise) rackets and if so how do you perceive age to affect performance even when the racket has been well maintained? Love the content.

@RacketsRunnersVancouver Жыл бұрын
The Ezone is much more forgiving and has easier access to depth. Less spin and precision, though.

How do you compare aero 98 to wilson shift 300 ?
@RacketsRunnersVancouver Жыл бұрын
Two very different rackets, the Shift is more unique with that flex pattern but I find the Aero 98 to have better variety in general.

@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Would it be correct to say shift is more manoeuvrable ?

How does PA 98 compare to Yonex vc 98
@RacketsRunnersVancouver11 ай бұрын
The Pure Aero has better feel and pop to it and the Vcore has a more uniquely powerful and stable feel. Both are very similar in spin potential.

Hello! what strings do you use? Your videos are extra !

Thank you! I go between Head Lynx Tour and Babolat RPM Rough as my favourite strings.

Hi I got the 100 earlier this year and I’m regretting not getting the 98 from all the reviews I’m seeing, how would you customise it to make it play similarly to the 98?
@RacketsRunnersVancouver10 ай бұрын
There's not really a way to customize a 100 to feel like a 98. The best I can say is string at a higher tension to make the control a bit better but that won't match all the other characteristics.

Daym I play with a 95sq strung at 62lbs… times change, people string these at 48lbs lol

Hi Luca I really couldn’t get on with the Aero 100 I preferred the Speed MP and the Extreme MP I found the Extreme better for spin and control. However I didn’t sell the Pure Aero and kept it as a spare etc. I then by chance realised that it was really good when hitting flat shots I changed to hitting flatter shops as it increases ball speed and penetration without much effort. The plough through was much better than the Extreme MP and the control was similar. The Aero for me is much better on serve than the Extreme and probably the Speed MP. So I am now using it as my main racquet as I am more confident of hitting the sweet spot because if you miss that the racquet vibrates and the ball loses any omph. Thanks

Does anyone find that the 98 is too brassy? The 100 with Tour Bite Soft feels more plushy (yea I know it's still Babolat) And how do you think the new Prestige MP fares against the 98/100?
@RacketsRunnersVancouver Жыл бұрын
I think I'm one of the few people who does find the 98 a little brassy (when I'm not playing my best). That's part of the reason why it's so poppy when you're on your game though. I haven't tried the Prestige MP yet so I really can't say.

I am 100 % sure that if there would be no Alcaraz there would be no aero 98 frenzy. Rune plays with it, the Canadian guy also and no one consider this other players

The paintjob and color choice are horrendous though. It looks very trashy 90's/00's. I wish they would go for something more classic, one toned and elegant like the Wilson Blade or Pro Staff, or even the new gorgeous Prince Phantom camo.

they may be good rackets, but the paintjob is one of the worst I've seen from babolat. Does anybody actually like this?
