Appreciate Video! Apologies for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Riddleagan Money Shot Remedy (do a google search)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for conquering any DSLR camera minus the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my cousin after many years got cool success with it.

I started my first few photography gigs for free too. It was my way of getting my foot in the door and showing everyone what my style and skills are. With that I was able to network and connect with people at the same time. If you were to charge the same amount as a well known photographer, then chances are they aren't even going to bother to hire you. They don't want to risk paying a new photographer a huge amount not knowing if they can deliver what they want..

@seandalton if you like taking, say 3 genres - ex: portrait, landscape, and food - should you have a page for each of these or is it ok to show all of them on one IG page since each will be represented??
@seandalt3 жыл бұрын
I think it's okay to have all 3 on the same page, you just need to make sure you are staying stylistically consistent among all 3 genres of photos. Similar color palette for example.

when you ask events for permission to photograph, do you ever make them sign anything that says that you can use the pictures in your portfolio? Is it best to avoid such topics because people in general would be okay with you using the pictures? This is a great video by the way. Very informative. Too many training videos on youtube are a total waste of time.

But how much do you charge and how how do you charge for your work and what prices do you charge so how much do you charge for portraits for a person, couple, etc and what's the breakdown like price for editing, printing, per hour for a session etc.
@phillipg4395 жыл бұрын
Andrew Collins prices are different in each state and if you are just starting out maybe charge $50 for 3 hrs of your time with maybe 15-20 edited photos. Up to you. Charge more if you have different locations, such as if you get a job and they want you to drive to 2 different locations or so and you spend 2 hrs at each location. So thats 4rs of your time and another 2hrs or so of editing.

Reasons to shoot for free: 1) If it can improve your portfolio and solidify more jobs 2) If it will DIRECTLY lead to another job. Ex: Test shoot for a modeling agency Reasons to NOT work fr free: 1) IG Colabs (This will almost NEVER get you a paid gig) 2) Someone has a lot of followers ex. "Influencers" This is a joke, never shoot with someone cause they have followers. I have shot with models with over 600K followers, and received nearly nothing in return. Even known celebs with millions of follwers. And got 0 followers in return. Almost no one cares who shot the photo. 3) Products. Companys should ALWAYS pay for photos. don't shoot one for free.
