Thanks for the tips, I’m funny with my decorating, I live in a 1970s ranch style home that we remodeled in 2015 to bring it up to the open concept of today, we love it but I like birds and spring colors this time of year, and then in fall I love rustic looks..I decorate for all holidays but getting older now and want to just go with a few things here and there to celebrate the season…but like you said I do have things I love that stay out all the time….love watching your post…

I can follow Marie Condo’s philosophy on some things, we’ll a lot but I have so many items I’ve collected or inherited over time. They get stored until I’m ready to use them. Especially, China and serving pieces.

Just the advice I needed today. I really need artwork on a long wall in my entry but I can decide what I want. So many influencers have gone to blacks, browns and greens which I think look great, but I don’t think they are me. I tend to love blues and white, but I don’t find much artwork in those colors without be overly coastal. I love coastal, but we live in central Texas so it’s seems a bit inappropriate to me. So I sit with empty wall space and not much decor I’m thrilled with. My furniture pieces I’m fairly happy with, it’s just everything else. I do know I love your style!

My daughter had the same problem. Long entry walls. She solved her problem by printing pics off her camera of their favorite places. To make them cohesive, she printed all in black and white, and bought white mattes and painted matching frames. It's so beautiful! And, their favorite places!

Great advice, Jennifer. I know what I love, and I definitely know what I don’t like. Im trying really hard to only buy something where it has a place in my home. I don’t like fads,( as a lot of pillows, and it drives me crazy when decorators chop them like rabbit ears. I dont like clutter. I love the warm woods with white. I got rid of items I know I will never use again, and it felt pretty good!

Don't buy something if you don't know what it is or represents. Example: Decorative wooden beads, Chains & Knots. The beads might have come from prayer beads. Knots may be nautical. Chains I just don't like. What do you think?

Great tips! When I was in college a hundred years ago I had a course in personal development. One of our assignments was to create a 'wish book.' The only rule was that each item had to be something that we loved. I've used that 'rule' ever since when purchasing everything from clothing to renovation materials. I have found that when I purchase items that don't make my heart leap they don't work long term. Clothes hang in the closet, decor items get put into the closet, dishes are never used, etc. Last year I renovated my home, followed the 'rule' and although it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to choose all the elements I adore the result! I could not be happier with how it turned out and am now in the process of purchasing, or should I say curating? furniture and decor? Loved the video and if I could give it more thumbs up I would! Well done!!🤩😍

I purged when we built our new and last home. I’m having quite the time with a great room with a high ceiling and glass display cases on each side of the stacked stone fireplace. It seems empty and cold. I’m stuck. The view is water and mountains. What to do?
