Little tip in the comments: If you happen to have multiple worn mousepads but not an adjustable desk, you can use them to raise the main mousepad to a better position without compromising chair height. I personally have two 3mm mousepads below my main pad.

You should just put thick material to elevate whole desk, because keyboard height can cause lots of pain if it’s offset

@@StruthGamingHey, I’m very interested in sitting consistently in the chair. What if chair angle suddenly is offset, resulting in 24% performance drop in score in aiming tasks and 11% in accuracy! Like how do you ensure that your wrist glides the same way everytime? Ron Rambo Kim does some warming up 1-5 mins, but for me sometimes it took 1 hour to get the peak performance position feeling back. There’s chair relative position to the table, rotation of chair, compensation of back of arm and table angle. I’ve figured compensation of back of arm via chair, but how to place chair consistently to the table? Even fixing peripherals by marking on table doesn’t seem to help. Please just make video of getting into table and reaching the position. It’s not about the focus or the zone, but about keeping same motion with same muscles.

I’ve been obsessing over posture ever since I got into aiming. This video is so informative and has helped me achieve my perfect feeling setup. I realized I was sitting with my arms parallel to my desk so I gave up a lot of control and forced my shoulders to do more. Now aiming is feeling better and more comfortable. Thank you for this video 🫡

When it comes to my setup I sadly I am very tall (I am 6'1") most desk here in the US are either very small/low or to big/wide (Meaning the legs are getting in the way for me to sit properly) so trying to find the right desk set up was hard but I op for a Standing Desk which thankfully helped, and while most gaming chairs are amazing any gaming chair I got was to low for the desk so I had to find someone to make my own chair to be able to follow any of these steps. I thankfully found the right set up but it really came down to what I was given. This could be the same for you but in my way my desk/chair were the issues here not me but I thankfully found out due to this guide.

I would like to say thank you so much for your video. I have overlooked ergonomics for so long after trying so hard to focus on mouse grip and aim sensitivity. Thinking it would be the end all be all to fixing my low kda and fatigue. My kill average in Valorant easily went from 9-10 to 15-20 and sometimes 25+ a game. I’m so happy not only because it improved my aiming (without changing my sensitivity and grip) but also my posture has improved not to mention my sleep. I’ve been sleeping/waking up so much better now than before. I can’t even remember the last time I had a back strain since watching your video. Before watching this, I am always slouching since I have a low monitor (the ASUS Vp249qgr has a low stand) which makes me look downward always when using the computer. And my arms were always wide since my chair was too low making my table to be too high. Elevating the books to raise the monitor and increasing chair height worked wonders for me. Thank you so much again!! Hoping to buy an adjustable table someday since I am a WFH employee and I’m on my PC the whole day everyday (from work to gaming).

Man, I've been trying to get this right for days now, but I just can't seem to do it. My arm always starts to hurt, whether it's after a while or instantly. It's almost like there are a few muscles that are super weak or something. I only feel comfortable when my whole arm is resting on the table, but then my wrist starts to angle upwards or doesn't rest correctly on the table when I start aim training. As I continue to aim train, my wrist becomes even more angled upwards. Alternatively, my posture may be compromised and not ergonomic.

im sorry to hear this. i had this problem and ignored it for years. eventually had to get surgery due to ulnar nerve entrapment. Make sure you sit ergonomically. Stretch really good before and after gaming. ALSO LOOK UP ulnar nerve glide exercises. do them twice a day and it can help a ton with the fatigue. Also just getiing a 10 lb dumbbell and doing some basic arm workouts for 5 literal minutes a day can fix this issue before it becomes worse. Do some research on stretches for gamers and exercises for the hand/wrist that you can do to start out. Remember that movement of your joints creates fluid that lubricates them. So exercise is the key to healthy joints for a gamer. Hope this helps a little bit and sending good vibes your way!

For those in the market for an adjustable (sit/stand) desk, always check the weight rating of the desk before buying! Ideally, you should literally add up the weight of all items you're intending to put on your adjustable desk (including the table top). Things like the PC tower, monitors, other paraphernalia, even the pressure of your arms/your weight when leaning on the desk - it can add up pretty quickly! I opted for a "dual motor" adjustable desk that had twice the weight rating (300lb/140kg) of the Ikea Bekant (150 lb/70 kg). Just something to keep in mind!

The desk is a little too high and the chair doest go up or down (broken) so Ive been stuck in this awkward lower position where my forearms lean upwards leaning on the corner of the table having to shrug to get higher position. Its awful and just got used to this, but now Im really feeling uncomfortable. The desk is great and I will be looking for a new chair that can go higher to reach that proper spot, Thanks a lot for the video helps very much!

Table height, elbow position, forearm/elbow anchor point, mouse resting point on table in relation to torso position(table-length-wise), mousepad position, mousepad/table rotation angle, mousepad stack height, mouse centering on mousepad. There are also 2 entirely different aim setups, that need trained differently, and have different functions: scoped aim, and non-scoped aim. Non-scope aim skill/strategy/sensitivity does not translate much to scoped aim skill/strategy/sensitivity.

i feel like with my aim i have changed it so many times ive lost a consistent "anchor" point or point of reference with my aim. i always look at these videos and see the same type of aiming style so i try to implement it. my main 2 shortcomings in aim is comfortably sitting and aiming- my right arm aiming shoulder heavily flares forward even if i put my shoulders level and arms 90 degrees out in front. and 2 -i have a difficult time staying in the focus flow state, i tend to panic between what im even doing while aiming and tend to miss shots on my target. any tips on staying comfortable and level headed while playing? amazing video btw

Same. With me Im trying to compete again today after some 12 years w/o playing PC games for serious and Im having a lot of trouble figuring out what changed in order to fix it. Sometimes I think its the heights, sometimes I think its the sore shoulders, neck and traps, sometimes I think its the Carpal Tunnels I never went to correct, or the change from CRT 4:3 resolution to flat screens at 16:9... Sometimes I think the reason for the inconsistency is just that my eyes and brains got older and and all those thoughts starts a midlife crisis lol

@@gxmcdg gaming/aiming is a skill, like riding a bike to give you an example or playing golf. There is no advice or fix you can read to suddenly be able to ride/balance the bike, you have to do it consistently for you to adapt and learn. I'm sure I remember you doing a similar video on the Kovaaks channel so really appreciate this more in depth one! I have a height adjustable desk and my forearm lies flat on my mousepad/desk but if I move my arm forward so my mouse is at the top of the pad, my shoulder goes from a neutral position to slightly dropped (I guess it's compensating for the arm extension) is this normal? If I keep my shoulder in a neutral position then my elbow raises off the desk slightly.. not sure if this is just normal though? It's not like I play like this for extended periods, but just something I noticed when trying to find my optimal height when setting up my desk.
@StruthGaming
@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
You're most welcome! When aiming to the top of the mousepad you're probably going to have to compromise the shoulder or elbow in some way. I personally do a bit of both, but never let my entire arm come off the pad entirely. The sensation is taking more weight off my arm. Fortunately we rarely need to aim that far up, unless you're using a very low sensitivity.

My guess is that this comes from having little choice in lan setups, and from home setups with lower chairs (like using a dining chair on a regular office desk) and they grew up aiming like that. There's no real benefit or secret sauce to why they do it, more likely it's just what they're used to.

If you can have your hand sitting any deeper onto the desk that would give you more room to work with. Otherwise raising your sensitivity a bit so you don't need to travel so far for those aiming movements. Skewing your setup can also help give you more room to pull down.

does it make sens to put the mousepad "inside" the lining of my shoulders?

When you say the desk should be a little bit higher than the neutral shoulder position, how much higher do you mean?

so I think I actually found the perfect spot! but im kinda sore, would that be common for not playing like this for the past 6+ years? I used to play with a little more flare. Does getting use to a new unfamiliar position cause a little strain since my body is used to the past position?

Why do I play insanely worse with the "perfect" aiming position than having my desk higher than normal?

I have. Love how the glide feels but where I live it's just always too humid and my skin sticks to the surface. Even with arm sleeve/artist glove my fingertips/thumb are enough to ruin the glide. Probs an amazing pad if you live somewhere

I got a question? Do you measure you 360cm with or without you custom rotation?
@StruthGaming
@StruthGaming Жыл бұрын
With, it shouldn't make any difference though. The only difference would be the direction you have to move your mouse irl to perform a 360, the distance would stay the same.

I laughed out loud when I seen this video in the suggested videos for me. I can't believe there is a grown ass man giving advice on how to sit in a chair and click a button to shoot an imaginary gun. This is hysterical.

This is the second time i've come across this particular comment when going through comments, and both times i've sat here for several minutes trying to understand what motivated you to bother typing it out. Where do you draw the line? Are Golf coaches similarly hysterical? People enjoy improving and learning more about their hobbies and interests so it should be no surprise that there would be educational content for gaming too.

This video seems incredibly pointless. Those who spent substantial amount of time already know their sweet spot. And those who are bad at aiming are gonna think now that it's not that they're bad aimers, but that they had bad posture all the time.

Anyone has experience using Aeron? At first it felt quite comfortable but now I'd prefer a chair less leaning backward as I spend most day coding. It has a 'forward tilt' but the position doesn't feel natural. Any recommendations?
