Another thing I learned to do was to imagine a woman dressed in a style that you admire. What is she wearing? What are the little touches that she makes that make you take notice? Write down the details of that outfit. What is the message about her personality that her style conveys? I found this the most helpful on the journey to define my style. I think about what I want my style to message about me. I think about cost per wear and understand what my fantasy self shops for and why I need to keep her needs met so I do t waste my money and to remember who I am and how want to be seen and how I want to feel? It made me realize that I love simple basics with a little athleisure touch but paired with a classic third piece with some boho accessories. My closet was filled with boho pieces but in the wrong form. I never reach for them but love the look of them. After trying this exercise, I am on a better path to making clearer choices. I love black and I love colors but in different pieces. Finding your style is hard when too many influencers keep suggesting a list of what every woman should own. I wanted a casual creative chic look. I brought jeans but never wear them. Once I swapped out the jeans for dressy track black pants it all fell into place. I love the energy of your videos!

Such good information, Danielle! I’m currently redoing my whole wardrobe (I purged my closet and was left with 12 pieces👀) but this was such a great reminder of prioritizing my closet. I have been so resistant to Pinterest because 1. It's overwhelming and 2. For years it just seemed like a corny Tumblr for wispy middle-aged white women. But now I'm planning my wedding and the vendors are all like "feel free to share your pinterest/inspo picks!" So I've (begrudgingly) been checking it out again. They have definitely improved! Much easier to find fly Black people. Still overwhelming but that might be the wedding planning. Lol.

This is so true!! When I finally figured out exactly what I wanted, I stopped just buying whatever and I'm so much happier! I think I have a couple of "uniforms" which are outfit formulas that I use for different occasions, so I only buy things if they fit into those, and it's cut my shopping way, WAY down.

I am 36 from NY. I work from home and have no car. As much as I want to be sexy in tight dresses and heels, it’s just not practical as I’m always walking or on the train. My club days are over. Most of my wardrobe consists of sneakers and low heeled boots. I love high rise pants/denim and a tucked in oversized shirt generally. I have a nice butt so pants are my favorite. My next purchases will be interesting coats and jackets since winter is coming and it’s usually what I’ll be seen in.
