Thank's for the response, I would like to add that two days ago I went out with a baitcaster for the first time.. I watched your video's on tuning and casting and surprising enough only had 1 minor backlash (my first cast and didn't realize that I had to stop the spool before it hit the water). Thank you very much for making my experience as painless as possible. BTW I'd really like to see how Clark has come along.

Just wanted to comment that I appreciate the part of this video that you go over what the bite feels like. Give Nate's Custom Baits a try. They make great jigs, under blade spinners, chatterbaits, and weedless chatterbaits. I love the color choices, they work really well around me in northeast pa. Lures are a buck tail (deer hair) skirt hand tied with a material skirt. I was concerned with trying a new company out but now that I have, I dont want anything else as far as jigs and chatterbaits go. The underblade spinner can also be worked with a jerking motion so it darts. I know I sound like a damn advertisement but this is just something I really think all fisherman should try. Was at a lake surrounded by 3 guys catching nothing, threw a Nate's Custom Baits jig and pulled out a 3lber. If you like chatterbaits and jigs, try them!

+Michael Jones I throw something that will catch some grass and bring it back to me.
@larrycowden22713 жыл бұрын
Great information. But: Have you compared chatter baits to jigs in grass? I've seen numerous videos on jigging in grass as a superior tactic. What is your experience? And I see you use the paddle tail swim trailer with tail down. Does it work better for you vs tail up? Or clipping the paddle? The reasoning I ask is some anglers found tail down action was restricted due to water flow through the skirt. So tail up was shown to increase performance of paddle tail trailers.

Thanks for your videos they are very helpful, I am new to bass fishing and study videos, techniques, and best practices but have been striking out more times then not. This question is also for viewers as well. W/o the use of a fish finder, how common is it to go days-weeks w/o a catch?
@Flukemaster7 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the condition. I spend more time looking for concentrations of life when I'm fishing than I do looking at my fish finder. It small lakes it's all about paying attention to the details. What parts of the lake as the most life. Both little fish on the bank and birds that eat fish. Just find the life and you will probably find the bass.

Hi Gene. First off, I love your video man. Your KZbin channel was the first channel I've ever subscribed too if that means anything. I just recently got into Largemouth and smallmouth fishing and you have taught me a lot. I was just wondering if you have a video or can make one on how to read fishfinders. @jasonperrin69597 жыл бұрын
Hi Gene, really enjoy your videos. I notice that most of your reels are an 8:1:1 ratio, at least from most of the videos I recall. What situations would you want to use a lower ratio and what is the lowest ratio you would use?
@Flukemaster7 жыл бұрын
5.3 and 6.6 I use for cranking big crankbaits, 7.6 I use for squarebills and spinnerbaits and I would even use it for this technique. I just didn't have it on that particular rod.
@kimdailey68817 жыл бұрын
Are there large size chatterbaits? It looks like the ideal replacement for bucktails when casting for muskies in Canada. The grass was about two feet below the surface and I think it will work for me next year.

The local lakes in my area of central NC have this grass on on the bank out to about 2 feet. Some of the dead stalks will extend out underwater about 5-6 feet. It's very sturdy grass with thick stalks. The bass live in this stuff all year long but it's very easy to get hung up in it because the stalks are so thick. You absolutely need braid. I wish I knew the name of it. Anyway, I usually fish weightless flukes, senkos because they tend not to get hung up in it so much. It's not really submerged grass except for the old stalks left over from when the water was low so I don't know how to fish it with a chatterbait. I guess I"ll just have to experiment. Appreciate any tips.
@anthonyshingler98147 жыл бұрын
