Just sensational. Roland Martin. Genius. The original master. Roland, I just bought you book on patterns. And I just caught a 6lb and 7lb large mouth bass two weeks ago on my kayak. I did this with three 60k bass boats all fitted with superior electronic all around me. They caught 0. I only had my rods/reels (65 braid) rigged for the conditions: TARGETING big bass! Along with handwritten notes from Roland’s book! Lol! I checked the topology of the lake, water temperature, wind direction, etc. I threw in timber/stick/weed areas no one was crazy/brave to cast in heavy timber. I saw the bass anglers around me shake their heads in obvious disappointment. One even trolled up to me mockingly inquiring “Why I was throwing into the heavy cover? I could never get a bass out of there.” I like people, so I didn’t take offense. I just shrugged and smiled politely I heard him mutter “Women fish like they drive, poorly.”. But I trusted the conditions, Rolands teachings and stuck with the pattern. Boom! Fish on! Heavy braid hauled that big bass right out! I did it a second time 4 cast later! Those bass boats came crowding around me throwing like crazy in those trees, only to hook up with sub par strength lines and get broken off!! Or get caught on limbs losing tackle. They were cussing up a storm and eventually left. I then caught several more 3 pounders! Thank you Roland Martin!

Man that looks like a beautiful body of water for bass fishing. I wish I had a place like that close by me in the northeast but a lot of our lakes are very clear, very deep and very open. Don't have a lot of lakes near me where I can fish timber structure like this but man it looks awesome. I love jig fishing for bass, probably my favorite technique and way to catch em. If I'm doing any kind of cover fishing like that it's usually pitching jigs or weightless senkos under docks, but a lot of the time in the lakes I fish, if you're not fishing docks, you're fishing around submerged milfoil weed beds, trying to find pockets or edges to run something like a spinnerbait/chatterbait or a swim jig through. Still loads of fun though. The northeastern bass up here may not get as big as those southern lunkers but they still fight like they're 10 pounders lol. Other than that, we have a lot of good smallmouth fisheries up here, so I target them more often than I do largemouth. But a lot of the time, you're finesse fishing for em with something like a drop-shot because they're down deep in 25-30ft of water, on the harder/rocky bottoms and usually around some good current. You can really hammer them that way. I love drop shot fishing don't get me wrong, but it's not as exciting to me as throwing a big jig around stumps, punching mats, frogging, etc. That's where I have the most fun. Great video Roland. The true OG of the bass fishing world.
