As someone who can spend hours watching saddle fitting videos, this was informative, and entertaining. With gaited horses that have a lot more shoulder movement, it's important to have the saddle well behind the shoulder blade, so the placement is familiar to me, but I'm in the minority. Thanks for putting all this information out there for us aspiring goat packers.

Wondering if you have any thoughts on a pack saddle design that would also work as a carriage harness/pulling harness. I have 4 immature Oberhasli mixes I wethered this year, and would like to make a team or two of them, and pack…. I have a wagon that has a removable handle “hitch” style and will be making an attachment/modification to make it a goat cart. It will still also be useable for a person to pull, just by reattaching the handle and removing my “modification” drive shaft… Was hoping I could make an “all around” kit that would allow me to switch goats between packing and pulling easily, so I could give pull teams a break and/or switch to human movement. Goats can pull a LOT more than they can carry, and so if I can manage to train them at all this would be a very useful tool in the toolbox. Thanks

I have two much smaller goats and I'm thinking of getting a pack saddle for my male or trying a dog back pack which tend to be smaller than the goat saddle bags. Do you think the dog bag would work better for his small size? Or should I go with the pack saddle?

Hi I wanted to do pack with my goats they are Lamanches they are 3 boy all a year old but don't know where to start. They are bottle baby's I raised from a few weeks old. The person I had gotten them from dehorned them does that make a difference?

Looking at training my one San Clemente Island goat who one of my more leggy ones. Wonder if you may be familiar with the breed and your take. Trying to find uses for the breed to help them thrive better other than just for people to breed. Need more ag and beneficial reason to breed them than they're endangered.

Timothy Wagner in looking at images online, I really like how they seem to be built. The only issue I see is their horizontal horn configuration, but that is a fairly minor consideration for a packer, but still a deal. Obviously I can’t comment on their temperament or intelligence, which they need to have. Who knows... love to hear how it goes for you.

So used my dogs old mollie harness for hiking and the one bucking did not and would walk with me, tried a 1 year old and took him a minute of flailing and I put him on his back to show dominance and he relaxed after. Would leave him tied up a few minutes then walk him to another tree where he fought the lead and tied up again. Took him on a 10 minute lead walk and near the end he started to calm down. Reminded he is not bottle fed or a lot of handling. My younger buckling may be more Ideal since we raised him due to untimely mother death when he was a baby. Figuring like training a dog not long session but just short ones at first. Wondering what you reccomend for breaking goats unless you have a video I'll look for.

Timothy Wagner honestly I’d start with a more handled bonded goat. Their attachment makes training sooo much easier. An Unbonded goat is very difficult.
