How To Fit An Aftermarket Steering Wheel !!! VW T4

I had to cannibalise my old steering wheel, by taking off the copper ring and attaching it to the boss kit, had to make some adjustments to the copper ring bracket to fit it on though, works like a charm, won’t ever be going back on the old steering wheel 😅 think you saw my efforts on my Insta page anyway. Good tutorial as always man

Hi mate. To get your cancellation for your indicators to work you must have that tab in the centre of the flick switch on your console. so it must sit in the middle of that for it to work. Hope that helps mate. I’ve just bought a t4 van and will be fitting a quick release system on my one.

It doesn't work as the tab isn't long enough to reach the indicators to be able to cancel them which is a shame

The Boss kit i have works the horn and cancels the indicators. Its a T4 specific one i got off ebay.

Mines a t4 one from ebay fits the splines but yer nothing else works at all do u have the link

I honestly don't know mate I haven't weighed the van but I'm on 5 inch Faulkner's and haven't seen or felt any difference since fitting all that wood.

im looking to bypass the horn and fit as a separate push button on the dash, do you know which cables that go into the steering column are for the horn?

Hey man, is the horn contact ring inside the steering wheel? I suspect weirdly, T4 steering wheels bear a lot of resemblance to late-fitted ones in Golf 3.

The horn button cover thing u mean? Yer just pull on it and it pops of but be careful as there wires connecting it you don't wana brake then

How would you deal with the airbag as i heard it can activate?

I didnt have an airbag and I know alot of early vans don't either but just take the negative terminal off the battery and job done 👍

I have tried 3 different boss kits and none of them fit 😪 what diameter is the kit you have spare?

If its for a t4 it properly won't fit but it 27mm send me a message on my social and I will send u the link to the 1 I have and many others I know have
