Excellent video ! Short & to the point. I think im ready to replace some old, knackered iso valves at work. Quite sick of plumbers charging silly money to replace the valves !

Thanks mate! Let us know how you get on!

Buy the good quality ones! The cheap ones are powse and last about five minutes before they start leaking from the isolator’s slot. Also, try a little PTFE paste around the olives.

We do use decent ones and have found that we didn't need any PTF ate when using good materials on new pipe

@@MrandMrsDIY wasn’t a criticism, self employed plumber/heating engineer, I see the cheap isolation valves leaking daily. The PTFE paste adds a little extra help to the olive. 👍🏻

Can you fit a flexible hose straight to the end of these or are they too sharp?

Hi! Yes you should be able to depending on how the end is, cheers

Don't you put PTFE tape on each side?

Small bore valves on a bath will reduce the flow rate. Full bore way to go.

Don't forget to deburr the pipe to remove the rough/sharp edges if you cut the pipe yourself.

No grease on the nut?
@MrandMrsDIY8 ай бұрын
Not needed on this occasion but you could put it on to make it easier!
@markjohnson83906 ай бұрын
Don't tighten the nut as much as you can, you'll deform the olive and it will leak.

Possibly yes

Should have used full bore isolators, not restrictive type. Plumbing regulations state its good practice to fit isolator valve to taps but not a requirement.

Can do yes if you want, but it would make it easier when removing/disassembling bathroom furniture/pipework. Cheers
