I really enjoyed your video. Best I've seen for pace and detail and I think the plastic pipe is a great idea. I'm inspired to have a go myself. Can I just confirm the O rings link is correct for the ones with 11x15x2mm rather than 15x17x2mm. Probably me over worrying tolerances as no expert!
@Bacrenfencing4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, thanks for the kind comments. Yes the link for the o-rings is fine. The o-rings do not need to be inch perfect as they are just to make it easier to centralise the pipe. You can use 15mm OD or 17mm OD but the 15mm fit tighter over the copper pipe, so do not move when you place the copper through the sleeve pipe (if that makes sense?). Let me know how you get on and if you have any problems, just let me know on here and I will help you out. Thanks again for the comment ! 👍

Excellent video. Thank you very much. Is it possible to go through the wall with an ordinary hammer drill as I don't have an SDS drill?. Cheers, super clear and informative video 💯
@Bacrenfencing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Yes, you can go through with a normal hammer drill but best to do it in stages with small diameter drills gradually building up to the large one. I.e use maybe an 8mm drill bit, then a 12mm and so on. Or you could just try using a big one, but it will likely take ages to get through. Hope this helps
@frankiebye2 жыл бұрын
@@Bacrenfencing Thank you so much for your reply. The problem I have is an ordinary hammer drill chuck (not SDS) won't be able to take a 22mm drill bit so it would mean a maximum diameter of say 12mm. Problems, problems. Might have to invest in an SDS

Excellent video, really clear with good pace as others have said. One thing that i am wondering though is why does the pipe need a plastic sleeve ? what would happen if you just put copper pipe through the wall ? Thanks
@Bacrenfencing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. 👍 Putting the plastic or copper sleeve through the wall is merely to serve as a protective barrier (in the case of water pipe or cable) It protects the pipe from damage from the masonry or from falling debris between the cavity wall. Chances are that it would be fine to use without sleeving the hole (plenty people do it) but it is deemed best practice to sleeve the hole. As an aside - Gas pipes need to be sleeved with copper, but that is for the gas safe engineer to deal with as illegal to do this if not certified.

For anybody in England or Wales this does not meet the regulations. Since 1999 a tap with a built in check valve can only be used to replace an existing tap with a built in installed before 1999. A tap installed after 1999 must be one without built in check valve. Taps without 'built in' check valves must have a check inside the building along with a means off turning the water supply to the tap. The reason the regulations were changed for garden taps with 'built in' check valves is because in winter time when the water supply to tap is turned off inside the building no one ever let the water out of the check valve mechanism using the little nut under the tap. Without releasing the water it froze within the check valve breaking the plastic parts rendering the non return function inoperable.

Hi mate what's the purpose of the pipe liner, am new to all this plumbing, thanks john.
@Bacrenfencing3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, It is basically to protect the copper pipe from getting damaged. Damage can occur from debris falling down the cavity within the wall or damage can occur if the copper pipe vibrates slightly when in use. If it vibrates when resting on concrete, it can damage the pipe, so always best to sleeve the hole. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment.

If you are just doing tiling and plastering then a good Public Liability insurance would be fine but if you are qualified and doing plumbing, electrical or actual building work then definitely need Indemnity insurance. @Bacrenfencing2 жыл бұрын
Use experience and common sense. Always check all around the wall area, you can generally tell if there are going to be any pipes or cables by looking around the space. It would be very unusual for there to be any pipes or cables actually in the brick wall, they would be more likely to be between the brick and the plasterboard, so you can get a good idea by looking around at the internal wall space. If you are not confident doing this, then best call a professional. Thanks for the comment
