Great video, just saw your video, I also installed a outside cold water tap last summer with the same pipe. This was before I've seen your video I also put the copper pipe through a white PVC conduit I had as I just did not like the fact the copper pipe having no insulation within the cavity wall. However my PVC pipe was 22mm and the copper being 15mm, I don't know if what I did was wrong but I also put a load of duck tape around the copper pipe to make a tight insulated fit with the PVC conduit. Thankfully the pipe I bought of eBay came with a isolation value and a non return built into it. Did not know at the time but now that I've seen your video happy that the product complies with regs.

I've got a similar job to do at home I'm thinking of just putting in a thermostatic shower mixer head with a dcv on each feed rather than 2 separate taps. The other complication on mine is gardens at the back and kitchens on the front so I've going to come down from upstairs bathroom on the back and use some 12v solenoid isolators on a key switch outside by the tap.

Why would you ever need or want to use a hot tap outside? No good for watering plants as it will most likely kill them (fixed temp or around 60c). Huge waste to throw over a car. Maybe to fill up a soapy bucket for outside cleaning. Also essential to keep taps turned off indoors until they are needed and to turn off afterwards. Local kids or a disgruntled neighbour can not only waste your water whilst you are on holiday but also run your heating 24x7 for the entire time. That would be expensive.

My daughter's 1930's solid walled house had a garden tap installed some years ago. Recently, she had external insulation with resin render added that meant extending the service pipe to the tap, I am not aware that any check valve was installed due to this alteration. The extended (60mm) service pipe was not robust enough to take even the normal operating twisting motion of the tap and the connection leaked. Fortunately, the leak was spotted in time as it was within the EPS insulation and within the guarantee period resulting in the tap extension and section of wall cladding being removed and then replaced with also new resin render. The tap is not as secure as I would have expected but it is still not leaking - my daughter will be selling the property in the near future so that when the service pipe fails again, which I expect, it will be someone else's expensive repair. I am not aware of any proprietary extension system to account for the wall cladding and fixing to the wall cladding is simply not a good idea. Also, I don't believe that any account has been taken in respect of cold bridging and it would not surprise me to see condensation dripping from the internal copper pipework. PS Why would you put a hot tap externally???

@@ellierotty So that you will wash the dog down on a freezing cold day outside with warm water and then dry it off outside? I would pity the poor dog as it will be soaked to the skin and cold. The worst our dog gets is when he swims in the river and its easy to get him into the shower, washed and dried in a warm environment. The shower room is a full wet room so that its easily cleaned. A dogs coat is largely waterproof except when humans decide to wash them and then cold water gets to the skin and causes a chill much like bare skinned humans being washed outside. The problem that dogs then have is that their fur retains cold water against the skin after a wash and they take much longer to dry and warm up than humans. Our paddling pool now used by the dog but formally used by my daughters was only brought out on warm summer days. It was filled in good time to heat up naturally under the sun.

Thank you for telling people that not only gas pipes must be sleeved. Am I allowed to install a mixer outside. If the 2 pipes are 15cm apart, then a shower valve will fit perfectly, you just need an adaptor male to male to screw in the female. So I could wash a dog without either freeze or burn him/her. A bit long winded & the over use of finger pointing 👉 . Shame your soldered joints weren't clean & appears you missed using a heat mat under the sink with the scorch marks clearly visible. Instead of fitting 2 OST you can fit a mixing valve, so in the winter & if you have a dog you can have warm water to wash its paws ! The use of a bender might of helped ! If you drilled through the wall straight through the back of the unit with a 10mm pilot you could of then drilled a nice hole spot on centre & then finished it off afterwards with a plastic pipe cover rosette. Maybe brush up on the soldering techniques & use less flux as that way you don't get solder runs all over the pipes & fittings !! I tend to use the peglars 1/4 turn lever OST only a tenner , easier to use especially for the less able who can't grip a standard tap. I finish off by using stainless screws for longevity . Overall a reasonable & functional video. Maybe save all the technical to the end as otherwise people turn off before the video has chance to start. Customers only need to know you've installed it with proper compliance so they have peace of mind.

🤣🤣🤣 love the way we are all excepts when watching videos. I used a heat Matt for all the joints I soldered so any scorch marks are not mine most of the joints you see in the video are not mine and the reason why I didn’t just drill through from outside is because I knew wires were behind the unit. Thanks for your long winded comment and maybe watch all the video before making comments on videos 😜
