Thank you for this video. You do a wonderful job at teaching on your videos. I have tried altering the hemline on jeans from your tutorials and I am pleased to say after a few trials I have succeeded in completing one pair of jeans that I am very satisfied with. I am retired and interested in learning new skills, so finding your videos has given me the inspiration to learn how to sew using an old Kenmore sewing machine that was in our family for many years. Looking forward now to learn the methods of alterations you show in this and other videos. Thank so much for sharing your talents.

This is my favorite sewing tutorial channel!! Danni you are an excellent teacher. Do you have a video on fixing the baggy front crotch area of pants?
@TailorItYourself Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! I don't have a video for altering the front of pants. That's a bit of a tricky alteration, and one that you sometimes just can't fix. It depends on what's causing the bagginess.

I'll probably never alter my own jeans, but your tutorial is helpful also for understanding where, if jeans don't fit well, the problem may lie. For example, sag under the seat being too long of a back rise. That, plus measuring and comparing jeans, can help people shop for jeans that fit better to start - so thank you! One thing I don't think is mentioned in the video (I confess I did not watch it all the way through) is the importance of checking fit in occupational positions. Not meaning job, but how you will be bending yourself. Example: sitting down. A flattering fit standing might be too uncomfortable sitting. I suspect if pinned with care, one can check this while the jeans are worn as pinned..
@TailorItYourself Жыл бұрын
That isn't discussed in the video, but that's a fair point.

hello, thanks so much for your videos, they were very helpful. I have a pair of jeans that were too big that I did not want to donate so I tried your method. Also I have the same "button rug" in my sewing room. LOL!

Great instructions. I was wondering how to transfer the markings and pins to the wrong side of the pants. The alterations are done on the outside, (right side of fabric), however the seams need to be sewn on the inside (wrong side of fabric). Thank you in advance for your suggestions. 😀

You run chalk along the pin on the inside. This step is shown in the video that shows how to do the alterations.

Rochester mn is actually close to me, can you replace original stitch to jeans like from buckle, and if so how much is the cost? I’m a male and basically need to hem my jeans in the seat everywhere else fits I just have no butt.

Hi there! I've got a video on my channel that shows how to do an original hem. If that's the style you're looking for you can schedule an appointment through my website to bring those in - trestertailor.com

Hi! Love your tutorials! I'm also from MN! :) I'm in Crystal so not to far from you! :) So I'm trying to hem my favorite jeans & the bottoms are tore up in the back of the jeans. I'm so OCD that I'm afraid to even do this but hate not being able to wear them cause girl they look so bad on the back! I don't know if you have your own tailor shop? But if you do I'd so rather have you do your magic on my fav's! So hoping that you do have your own shop & if you do how do I get the info to get some much needed help! I'm only 5'21/2 so I've got a lot of pants that I need hemmed. If you can please help! I'd really appreciate it so much! Thanks! :) Sincerely, Jeanette

Is there anything special when it comes to extreme bodies? Like muscular men. Cause i got a very small waist, huge hips/butt and thighs and wide shoulders. Cause this is a huge issue for men who are into lifting, and it's something that is really difficult to buy clothes for
@TailorItYourself3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes for bodies that have proportions that aren't a manufacturer's model size, it's easier to get garments custom made. Trying to alter clothes that need to be resized a large amount sometimes just doesn't work for some garments.

@TailorItYourself2 жыл бұрын
Shortening the whole waistband, and shortening it a lot, is a tricky process. You'll need to move the zipper, possibly the pockets and other details.
@evarene07 Жыл бұрын
The second pair was a good fit in leg & thigh IMO , needed some tapering in the rear … IDK, she seems to really shorten the leg . The traditional “break on the top of the shoe” isn’t always a good look. A bit more length and not always such a tight fit in the leg.

@TailorItYourself2 жыл бұрын
The legs are turned inside out in order to sew them. What are you referring to?
@kathygann76322 жыл бұрын
@@TailorItYourself To take in clothes, put them on your body inside out so you are pinning them right sides together. If you put them on right sides out, then you have to transfer all the markings to the inside. If you put the clothes on inside out, you skip the step of transferring the markings. It also gives a better fit because of the extra folds of the fabric.
@TailorItYourself2 жыл бұрын
I caution against that as some people's bodies are different side to side. If you pin them inside out, the side you pinned will be on worn on the other side and may not fit properly.
