Thank You! I am a slightly shorter wasted than what is typically sold, hourglass, female and I so needed this tutorial with this season’s nothing-but-high-wasted pants being sold on the market. Even if I wanted to, I just cannot do this popular high-wasted cut…. but I need pants so this will help me greatly. Because of my body shape, I often need the booty area to stay as sewn but the front to be shortened in the waist. Altho’ this video shows the opposite the concept is still the same and just done in reverse. I’ve done this form of method in the past but for some reason, your instruction here seems so much quicker and doable. I was dreading this alteration but now I’m feeling good about it. Thank you again

Do you have a video where you lower the whole waistband - I hate high waisted and mid rise jeans I like them to sit a little below my belly button. I’m not talking hip huggers or anything I just like it below my belly button. But in that case you might have to alter not only the pockets and the rivets but also the zipper.
@TailorItYourself3 жыл бұрын
Currently do not have a video of that. But it's essentially the same process. If the zipper is long enough, you can just cut the top down all the way around instead of just in the back, and sew the waistband back on. May need to remove rivets to avoid sewing over them. I did this on another pair of mine recently and I also had to remove the little "drugs" pocket that's sometimes there.

It's a basic spring arm lamp. I got that one at a Restore, but you can order them from any office supply place or Amazon. You can get them with either a base or a clamp on style. I use the clamp on style so it doesn't move around when I'm sewing bulky items.

Great information. Do you have a video of doing the exact opposite? I am hoping to make the rise longer to fully cover a curvy bottom. Not necessarily on jeans, but I think it will be similar on other types of pants. Thank you for all of your videos and content.
@TailorItYourself Жыл бұрын
To make the rise longer, or make more coverage in the back, you'll have to add fabric to the top of the seat portion of the pants. This will be visible so you'll need matching fabric or fabric you don't mind seeing.

Please do a video on how to make high waisted jeans into mid-rise ones. Can't find into anywhere on this. Thank you!
@TailorItYourself Жыл бұрын
That's a pretty extensive alteration. It's similar to this video, but you do it in the front as well, which includes messing with the pockets and the zipper. Depending on how much you want to shorten the rise it can be a big job.

is there any way to do this without lowering the waistband? i have a pair of jeans with a ride about 2.5 inches too high for what i’m looking for,,,, i’m thinking of making the inseam longer by moving the crotch up, since moving the waistband down would require removing a handful of rivets and ditching the pockets altogether :”) thank you!
@TailorItYourself2 жыл бұрын
The only way to shorten the rise by that much is to lower the waistband. The other option is to take apart the inseam and take excess out of the back of the leg. But 2.5" is a lot to do it that way, and it will end up making the leg tighter as a result. It's either that or find some pants that fit!

Hi. I purchased a few pairs of jeans that I absolutely loved, but are several sizes larger than I wear. They look like they may have to be completely deconstructed and reconstructed to look proportional to jeans originally my size -- particularly the pocket/butt area. It'll require more than just tailoring the waist and legs. The pockets need to be positioned correctly on my butt. Could you post a video of how to make size 10 jeans into a size 0, please? 😊
@TailorItYourself2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately it's not that simple. And you're right - sizing down that far would mean completely taking them apart and recutting the pieces. It would also mean moving pockets, waistband, and everything else. And yet they will likely not fit as you hope. It's a big job, even for an experienced person. When you have something graded to be a much larger size, trying to make it significantly smaller will just make everything out of wack. I would recommend buying a pair that actually fits.
@Cali_Girl12 жыл бұрын
@@TailorItYourself Lol... I generally do buy jeans that actually fit. However, this was a unique situation. You see, these jeans are very rare, brand new JORDACHE Jeans from the 80's. I purchased them from a Dealer online. They are BRAND NEW, never worn, never sold, and still have the original tags on them. I absolutely LOVE the pocket design and style of those Jordache Jeans, that were very popular back in the 80's. They'll be so PERFECT for an 80's party, and such a conversation piece just to wear around town. They're so unique and beautiful, that they look fresh for 2022. I'd love to find a way to reconstruct them to fit me. I guess I'll just have to find a REALLY EXPERIENCED Tailor that MIGHT be able to reconstruct them to fit me. Wonderful job! Thank you very much, Danni! Is there any way to low one inch in front as well?
@TailorItYourself3 жыл бұрын
This is specifically to address fullness in the seat area. The front fits fine. You can lower the whole waistband, but that's typically done with the crotch is too low. That's much more involved as then you'll have to move the zipper and potentially the pockets and other details. Much more involved than just shortening up the back.

Most of the stuff made today it's not made for a female body. I also noticed my cotton and leather from before the plants were GMOed stays together, but since the bees started dying eating that pollen the cotton and the leather falls apart or cracks because it's too polluted. I get the great reset it's just a repeat. The roads will get weird the cars gas will be useless the motors will be pulled out they will be turned into carriages as the roads over grow the wheels will get taller as the frame of the car rots they will be made out of wood and Gypsy vargo we go rinse repeat rinse repeat I can't stand it anymore anyone else remember their past lives too.
