I have a very small waist so I struggle to get jeans that fit without being too tight on the thighs and bum. I buy them just a little big and sew seams inside the pockets up into the waistband. Then use the belt loops to hide the seam on the waistband. It works really well and you can barely see any stitching! Obviously of they are several sizes too big that won't work though
@poppyt26823 жыл бұрын
I have the same issue and I do the same thing! Using belt loops to hide stitching makes it so much easier.

This is a big problem for me too. According to most size charts, my waist measurement is a size 8 but my hip measurements would fit a size 12. I used to buy a size 10 and pray.

Hi Sera! I'm a fashion major and yes, clothing stiching is sort of like crochet , you can take in and make darts/seams that sort of look like it was made that way, and it doesn't look like a mistake or like you didn't buy it that way. It's because nowadays jeans are stitched in all kinds of ways. And showing others how to make jeans fit when you can't afford these ridiculous prices in department stores and other places make this a win-win situation! Kudos to you in helping people fit into clothing they find in thrift or sale stores. Love your videos BTW!

What if you do it on the side instead of in the middle of the pant leg ? I wanna try this but I don’t want that line in the middle of my jeans.

I definitely found your channel from that video when I was looking up how to resize jeans many years ago. Never got the courage to actually do the resize but I've watched every video you've made since then and I did finally buy a sewing machine and now I will resize my jeans if I ever lose the weight I've gained because 2020 quarantine ^_^

I really like the seam going down the front and back of the legs, it elongates the legs and makes you look taller. Also, it reminds me of the Chemendofers (spelling?) I wore in high school, they were all the rage back then. ❤

I really appreciate this! I lost a lot of weight this year but tbh ive been so sure that the second i start downsizing these pants ill gain it back 😅 this took a lot of pressure off though since it would really suck for me to gain weight again right after a long, confusing, and frustrating process. Thank you so much!!!
@Mangoomads8 ай бұрын
You can always keep the extra fabric instead of cutting it off, so if you do gain the weight back, you can let out the seam aka cut the dart you made from this video. Then you’ll always have the pants regardless!
@sbonelli7 ай бұрын
At first I was not sure if I would like the seams down the front and back, but now I'm thinking this would be a great design feature for splits at the front and back. I would topstitch that seam with a double needle and topstitching thread and I think it would be super cute for showing off your shoes or heels and lengthening the leg. Thanks for the vid!

Loved this!! I definitely used the tutorial from your black jeans to help me downsize a pair of jeans that gapped too much around the waist and thighs!! Thank you for this video!! 💖 Ok...I would LOVE to see a video on how to UPSIZE skinny jeans/too tight jeans to fit more relaxed, YET be a fashion statement as well? Bc I know that there will be paneling...but done in a way where it looks like the paneling is intentional?((like, I want to quilt some fabric, to use as the side panels...without the batting, of course)) That'd be great! Bc I've been over skinny jeans for the past 5 years...but don't want to throw them all away...😓

This method is SOLID, it allows for extreme adjustments as it literally does Not suffer from the limitations' of OTHER methods. i've used it on dress shirts to EAT into the back of the collar and NOBODY everrrrr thinks that my shirt collar was severely shortened becuz the story/secret is ALWAYS hidden at the BACK of my neck, i literally cut the collar and just put a top stitch to mend the remaining two halves back together, HUGE adjustment with visible footprints, but still Not detectable to the common eye :) :)

THANK YOU soooooo much Sera!!! I LOVE all of your previous denim alteration videos... your altered jeans look SOOOOOO good on you Sera!!! This updated video couldn't have come along at a better time... I have been in need of inspiration to do some alterations to the oversized Levi's gems that I've thrifted previously. In addition to that... I've recently had an occurrence of a significant weight loss (unintentional) and now NONE of my jeans fit me... Future video ideas... ANYTHING DENIM is an automatic view and love from me! Two ideas/two videos specifically that I would LOOOOOOOVE to see done by YOU would be an attempt to recreate a pair of reconstructed jeans in the style of the EB Denim Jeans, and the other would be to do the same, but in the style of the Vetements Jeans.... I would DIE if you posted either or both of those!!! Fawn 😊❤👍

@inkasaraswati76253 жыл бұрын
Not Sera obviously, but I think it should work. Although alternatively you might consider just taking off the sides. The issue with jeans is that you usually don't want to disturb the side seams because you'd lose the rivets and wear signs on the seam, which shouldn't be an issue on work pants.

Haven't used my sewing machine since the 1980s and by now I'm afraid it will catch fire if I turn it on cuz I don't know where to oil it or anything. I want to do this to 4 pairs of jeans though rather than buy them all just one size smaller. I've gotta ask what the noises in the background are sound like a kid or a dog yapping and a duck quacking? So obnoxious that I gave up and turned the sound off and read the closed captioning instead. Anyway I fear this is too difficult for me.
