I believe it's called flexible conduit, nice job, best wired before any interior installed ,perhaps a couple of spare wires just in case.

Great video. Is it acceptable to route a 12V cable along with existing looms, indicator, brake light etc or should i try and keep them apart? Cheers.

I have a motorhome and would love to see a complete set of videos that go right back to the basics on the electrics starting with volts, amps and watts etc. I would like to better understand so that I can monitor and predict usage based on devices. There is plenty of how to fit electrics but nothing that starts with the basics.

Thank you for the video! what do you use to connect multiple loads, for example the ceiling lamps to one cable? What type of box and connection method?
@CombeValleyCampers

The loom for the lights is pre made by Rayne Automotive and they solder in the light connectors along the route of the loom.

@@CombeValleyCampers oh okay, thanks for the hint, they probably use these shrink tubes with solder in them
@CombeValleyCampers
@CombeValleyCampers 4 жыл бұрын
@@BiecherBender unlikely. The tubes with solder in are at best used for emergency repairs really. The wires will either be stripped, or cut and stripped back, then new wires are 'let-in' to the original loom and soldered together and sealed up with adhesive lined heat shrink

how do you choose what size battery 110amp or 130amp, I'm going to be running fridge off 12v socket in switch plate with lights and Usb, not sure on size of leisure battery?? thanks for the videos, learning so much
@CombeValleyCampers
@CombeValleyCampers 4 жыл бұрын
I'd personally go for the best (largest) you can afford. However if you go for the smaller battery you could fit a solar panel to keep the fridge running longer

What’s the general size wiring you should using for lighting and 12v such as fridge. Great videos 👍

Thanks for another great video. Would be awesome to see how all this links together now, e.g. wiring the loom to the switch panel, how and where the fuses factor in etc. I'm planning and really simple conversion in my T5 Kombi, with a day bed that folds out over the folded rear bench seat and basic 12v leisure set up with just some lights and USB points. Your content is really helping me to do that, but I'm just a bit unsure about how it all goes together.

Rayne automotive currently have an 8 week waiting list.... also their looms cost around 15 times more than doing it yourself. Could you do a video on how to wire up a basic 12v system
@CombeValleyCampers
@CombeValleyCampers 3 жыл бұрын
Their waiting list is long as demand is high. Their cost is justified as the kit is quality. I have done a video in wiring up a basic 12v circuit. If there's a demand for another video I'm happy to watch yours dude.

Hi I'm thinking about just running all the live wires (12v only but larger wire) and earthing the lights and 12v outlets as close as possible to the spot I'm using for the outlets so I don't have to run so many wires together and buy a loom, would it be ok to do it this way? love the videos by the way.

Yes that is a sound way of wiring. But, please make sure the earth point are substantial and not just tec-screwed into the nearest available metal work. You will likely find factory earth posts littered all around the vehicle so use them where possible

2:30 that red thing low on the driver's seat contain 3 60A connectors. They're called Customer Connection Points. Have you yet done a video showing how to use them? There's nothing useful in the manual, it's monochrome, so that makes it worse, and Ford site has it somewhere else, and provides no useful information.
