Nicely done! Those curly end pieces are a PIA. I own a Prius, but it doesnt HAVE shutters. I'd be tempted to install a screen if I had it.

Thanks for this. I had a dash Grille Shutter Malfunction/check engine warning on my '19 camry the other day. Out of an overabundance of caution 'cause I'd never heard of such a thing before and the check engine spooked me I took it to the Toyota dealer straight away. $200+ bill for the inspection and at the end of the day they said '$1900 for the shutter motor replacement/installation.' $1900!! The warning has gone away now/no check engine, and today I looked and there were splintered branch/twigs in there.. can't guarantee they were there only 2 days ago but I feel like they didn't even bother to look at it. And they wanted $1900. Thanks for letting me vent. Now with the twigs cleared out, what I was trying to find out here was how could I know the motors/shutters are working.. and from your video it looks like just turning the car off/on? Is that the extent of it? Thanks again and sorry for the super long message...

Too bad you paid for the inspection, but at least you still have your $1900! And now you know if you ever get that message again don’t take it to the stealership before you check it out first. Typically if you’re car hasn’t been started in awhile and the engine is cold, the grill shutter will close when you first start it to heat the engine up faster. And Vice versa, when the engine is warmer it may open to help get more airflow. So when you first start your car for the day ask someone else to start it and you should see it close.

@@KarelleDIY stealership 😂😂 Yes I was able to run around front of the car to see it closing completely.. it did sound a bit grindy, so maybe there's something still caught, but it did open/close completely. I wrote them a nasty email.. hate to be an a-hole but that's malpractice. Thanks again!

Can you still drive your if your grill shutter is damaged? Dealership is closed and I need to make a long trip

@@urielramirez6546 You can, but I’d try to get it fixed as soon as you can. I drove this car around for a few weeks before I finally got the time to take the bumper off and see what the problem was. The grill shutter helps the engine warm up faster by closing when the car is first started, and on highway speeds it usually closes.

Thank u I think with this I found the problem on my rav4 hybrid. I hit a deer and my front bumper is damage one of the problems said grill shutter malfunction. It's either the cable or so thing like that. Thank you
