Piyke, I want to let you know that I really appreciate you sharing this fix. I have yet to change out a fuse and not sure if I have spares yet, but I will definitely follow your directions and am sure it will work! Had my alternator replaced, so something could have happened to blow the fuse, I presume. Thank you!
@DIYAutoworksNG3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for thr compliment! On your alternator, they happen to have a number of internal components that just wear out over time due to friction and the intense heat they work in. This is to say that it may have just gone out due to wear. All the best and thanks again!

My 2007 rav4 cigarette lighter, radio, ac and mirror all stopped working. I just came across your video again today. But i think my issue has to do with the ACC relay. I just need to figure out where the relay is and test it

Sounds like an ACC thing depending on how Toyota has setup the circuit. Fuse, relay are good suspects.

So my bet would be on the fuses. In fact just last week, I dealt with a friend's car whose OBDII port was not working. On this model, the fuse for the OBDII port is in the engine fuse box. It's marked "ECU" and I think it's on position 15 (double check). Were fuses you replaced for the underdash fuse box?

Either the connector or the wiring. Use a multimeter to test whether you have 12v at the connector. You can also remove the panel to check the wires directly. Check the prongs of the connector under the panel to be sure it does have flux or corrosion.

Why isnt my radio or power outlet not working after changing the fuse also unfortunately I dont have the right fuse for my cigarette lighter outlet but I did for my power outlet they the same pretty much but yeah not working after changing the fuses
@DIYAutoworksNG2 жыл бұрын
Could be a wiring issue or that the cigarette lighter itself is broken. To confirm this, you will have to go beneath the power outlet/cigarette lighters to test for voltage at the prongs that plug into both parts.
@DIYAutoworksNG2 жыл бұрын
Radio looks like a totally different issue. I'm guessing the radio wasn't working before you changed the fuse? Also using the wrong fuse will cause issues. Lower rating equals fuse being blown again. Higher rating current can damage the part the fuse is meant to protect, be it radio, cigarette lighter or power outlet.

Yea. You should use the exact fuse rating. The 15A fuse is there to protect the accessory socket in case there is a surge and current higher than 15A is sent to the part. With a higher fuse capacity (20A), you risk having the part damaged rather than the inexpensive fuse.

One's little mind wonders WHAT CAUSE FUSE BLOW ? Wasted time watching all these videos replacing fuses, no thought about cause. Just sayin
@DIYAutoworksNG2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Fuses typically blow because the part they are designed to protect drew more current than usual or more current than the fuse could carry. The fuse breaks as a safety measure. Parts can sometimes draw more current when they are becoming defective. Also fuse may fail because the alternator is producing too much current.
