My new mare bucks if you cinch her to fast! Help me

couldn't cinchiness be a reflection of pain? the pecs may be very tense. sometimes ulcers can cause this behavior as well. Carson is amazing but we have to remember pain is usually the cause of "bad"/negative behavior

I've seen a lot of horses that have mental tightness causing physical pain. Like the one in my profile picture who lived her life bracing for the car crash.

You also have to remember to check all those things out first the worse it could be is ulcers and other symptoms go with that. Very rarely is it back pain or at least it’s uncommon unless it’s mental tightness sometimes being tense can cause them pain and that’s why you work to get them relaxed.

@May I talk about horses? Please? a horse isn’t going to be 100% comfortable the first day it takes time and he literally explains that... I think you need to take some more equine training lessons because this horse is far from helpless

@@PetraHChristensen Spot on. This is how you create a shut down horse. She was never given time to come down from stress and gave clear calming signals. She essential got to a point of giving up because she wasn't heard. This was a disappointing demonstration.

This was my mare. She was telling me she was in pain. Was cinchy, hated the saddle being wiggled on her lower back (where hind gut ulcers show as well as large follicles during the heat cycle). She wouldn’t go to the mounting block. I treated her for ulcers she’s been great ever since! (There was a period she was expecting pain and once she realized it was no longer there, she relaxed) she’s a new horse!

Do you have a video for what to do with a cold backed horse?

Horses are naturally claustrophobic, to varying degrees. So, to them the cinch/girth is apt to be a big deal for a while. Rule out physical causes (including back issues w/a physical therapist or chiropractor), but realize that sensitivity to a girth is part & parcel of being a horse. Proceed slowly but appropriately.

My horse is cinchy but this would definitely make it worse. He doesn't try to get away.. he bites. This is not going to help. I need to figure out why he reacts.

Sometimes getting the horse away from you and being stern with them helps. But it would take a trainer to look at your horse to be able to give the best advice I know some people don’t like Clinton Anderson’s training methods but his methods are geared towards aggressive horses you might see if he has something?

As Carson states, everything is interconnected. I tried this with a horse who had been cinch for ten years, pain issues eliminated as cause, and she was better in first session!

What kind of horse is that?

Looks to be a nice Paso Fino. Seeing how she is gaiting in her walk.
