Honestly, the best repair video ever. No BS.. Just exactly what I needed to know to fix my blender. We've been living with pulling the plug out for 5 year. No more! You ROCK! Thank you!

One of the best repair vids I've seen. This young mother with crazy kids in the background made it easy for an old retired guy like me to be successful. Thank you.

My mixer hasn't shut off properly for 20 years! I called Kitchen Aid to get this problem fixed in 1998 and they told me to mail them the mixer... I decided to live with the frustration. I would have to attempt to shut off the mixer 5-8 times before it would stop 'jumping back into gear' and actually stay in the off position or entirely unplug the mixer throughout my baking process to get it to stay turned off and not risk splattering my kitchen with batter if I accidently bumped the knob. YOU fixed my mixer!!!! I followed your steps today and my mixer is fixed! Thank you so much!!! I am a very happy girl.

Thanks for this! Got my friend's mixer fixed with this video!! Creative criticism: don't be afraid to linger on the shots a little longer. There was something at the lever I needed to see but the shots went really quick. Thanks again! 👍

Great video. I love the detailed explanation, especially the ‘what not to do’ bits and how to solve the gear meshing etc. I’ve been putting off this fix for about 5 years thinking I was going to need parts. Now I’m doing it.

Thank you for the excellent video. Unfortunately, when I went to tighten the speed lever screw, it was already tight. I loosened it and tightened it again, but was unable to fix the problem of the switch not staying in the off position. I don't know what to do next.
@litarea Жыл бұрын
You can loosen the screw entirely and take the whole speed handle out, then bend the whole thing slightly to force it to press into the detents better. I got mine secondhand that had been dropped, and the handle was bent so bad it would stay off at all, and that's what I had to do to solve it.

Thank you for an excellent video. I have the same mixer which has the opposite problem, it won't turn on. Your video has helped me as I now see there is no need to take apart the top, as there appear to be no electrical accessible parts inside. That has helped a lot. When you get the top off and all that manufacturers grease, that should carry an 'X' rated warning :) I actually jumped it was so horrible. Many thanks, I still need to fix mine , but I'm going to focus on the circuit board at the back of the motor. You saved me from a very nasty mess
@andygreaser8230 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tutorial, this fixed the exact same issue on a ~1995 KitchenAid mixer. I used an awl and a small hammer to tap the pin out. While you're in there, check the two 3/8" nuts on either side of the circuit board. One had rattled loose completely, and the other was backing its way off the threads, too. If you can turn a screwdriver, you can do this repair!

I'm pretty sure my machine is a lot older than yours but I have the same problem. I'll be recruiting my daughter who is mechanically inclined to take it apart and see if we can manage the same fix. TY for posting this how to. I'd searched years back and could only find other repair issues.

Thank you, you gave me the courage to try to fix this -- however, even when I tightened the screw it still wants to pop back to the on position -- not as easily as before but . . . I'm not sure if I needed just to tighten it more or if I need a new part. . .Since I successfully regreased it and put the whole thing back together, I'm not inclined to open it back up unless the problem gets worse again. Also, when I put the top and the bottom back together and the gears line up, the gears would not turn manually anymore, but that was okay. :)

If you fix this again lube the speed switch screw and retainer washer. Also make sure the washer aligns to the speed switch properly. It should saddle the switch like so. (--

Thank you kindly. One note. When putting the gear assembly back on where you have to insert the pin- Lubricate it with grease and I used a finishing nail to line up the hole. Just insert it into the hole then push down on the nail. To add leverage put 2 flat head screwdrivers on each side and push the nail down. This will line up the hole to insert the pin. You still have to hit it pretty firmly but it works a heck of a lot better.

Thanks for sharing! 😱🤭🤯 ARE YOU 🤬🤬 SERIOUS??!!! I’m so angry (but if that’s all mine needs I’m so happy) because I’ve had to take mine apart to replace the bushings and to remove and add new motor grease to it. Removing the parts is truly the biggest headache of doing these repairs. Thanks again.

So the video was helpful, however I would suggest you have someone else hold the camera or get an arm that you can clamp the the counter to film. They are very inexpensive on Amazon. But you did inform me on how to fix mine, so thank you
