Sir, you are a national treasure. I work with tools everyday as part of my job, and while I likely could've figured out how to regrease our mixer, your video saved me tons of time and frustration. I'm not a serious baker, but I like to try my hand at bagels and some bread now and then. Where you really are a treasure, is helping out all the moms that just want to bake some cookies with their kiddos and wouldn't have the first clue about how to grease up their mixer or fix up the one they got for cheap at a garage sale. You're the man, keep up the great work!

Recently had surgery so off work (firefighter/paramedic) n bored out of my grape!! Started getting into sourdough, made a starter n have been baking different stuff. Wanted to do a sandwich style bread, got out our mix master; 27yo wedding gift, that hasn’t been used in years! Wouldn’t start. Pulled up ur channel for the first time. Have checked the brushes, noticed the speed adjustment “bar” had some how come off the plate, took the plate off, put it back together, n adjusted the speeds. Works great n all thanks to ur channel!! Now I may delve into cleaning n greasing it. Thanks again

My wife recently bought a Bowl Lift model but decided she doesn't like it as much as her 27 yr old Classic. After 27 years it was definitely showing signs of lubricant follies. I had already bought grease and just needed some walking through. I watched all 3 of the videos and found them very instructional and easy to follow. Thanks for the time you spent putting these together.

Very thankful for the videos you posted. Watched all three parts. They were great! So informative and easy to follow.. While preforming the operation we found that the factory had screwed into the red wire on the side and crimped it. Machine had never been opened so had to be from the factory. which explained some odd issues with the mixer, since it was new. So we uncrimped it the best we could, put a piece of electrical tape on for good measure. Carefully put it all back to together as per your instructions. Now the old mixer is up and running, literally better then new. Thank you so much!

Thanks for posting this. I have a 1984 KitchenAid mixer. Don't recall the model number or name, but it's the 4.5 quart bowl. I watched your video yesterday and did the regrease job today and it's amazing how the model was nearly identical to the one you worked on that was more than thirty years newer. Also interesting is the wear on that plastic worm gear. My mixer was made with what I believe is composite metal gears and they showed very little wear. I have used the mixer quite a bit in forty years and only had it serviced once about ten years ago. That service, I discovered today, was not done well. There was a lock nut missing and the guy used way too little grease. That may be why I've had a concern with how hot the machine has been getting recently, which is why I wanted to regrease and get a look inside. I can't get over how well this thing has held up for forty years and how little wear is on the gears. Thanks again. I couldn't find an authorized service center near me and now I can be my own service center.

We have one bought in 1998 with the flat head bolts holding the top to the housing. Thank you for this great set of vids. I just re-greased a used red machine just like the one in your vid. The grease in mine looked nasty just like yours. When I started it up after I finished re-greasing there was a kind of crackling/splattering noise, like the grease was flying against the inside housing, at least that's what I hope it was. I can't tell you how chicken I was to turn on the machine when I was done. It's running fine, thankfully. I used a kitchen mixer grease product, gasket, worm drive gear from a kit on Amazon. I can't believe you only charge 50.00 for re-greasing. i used an entire roll of paper towels, a pile of cotton swabs, and dawn detergent to wash off the gears, et al. I am not OCD, just particular.

Love your videos! My classic mixer was making an ever increasing awful noise and I was attempting to break into the things to re-grease the gears when I saw in your other video that the issue could be that the bolts holding the bearing bracket in place could be loose and causing the noise. Regrease can help with some sound but if it's a grind or a vibration sound it's likely related to other issues like damaged gears or a bad bearing bracket.

@@MrMixer316 Yes. They probably could have been a more perfect sized blade for the job, but eventually have managed by rotating the planetary small amounts and using one screwdriver, getting deeper and deeper in, avoiding the internal gear. Eventually pried it off. Thank you very much for your immediate response though. Heading for part 2 tomorrow I think! Top man. Great video.

Should the planetary gear that’s removed (8 mins into the vid) turn easily? There’s quite a bit of resistance with mine
@MrMixer316 Жыл бұрын
It should turn easily when removed from the machine, if it is tight, take off the agitator shaft and clean it and then lube it a bit

@@MrMixer316 yes, I thought it should turn freely, thanks for confirming, the vids were great btw 👍🏻

Is there any other way to clean it without taking the pin out? I have tried for days to get it out and it is not budging

This is my question, too - my pin will not budge and I'm just ready to cry over it

I can’t get the band to stay on now on the front of the mixer. I used the mallet and it fits on but just pops right back off. Is there a trick to get it to stay? I turned it several different ways thinking there was a groove it might need to catch but nope.

The paint that is on the 5 or 6 little ridges where it seats have too much paint which is causing it to slide down, trim a bit of paint with a razor off of the ledges and it should seat properly!
