How to Fix a Leaky Faucet with a Single Handle Design
Delta Replacement Seats and Springs: amzn.to/3j1jsvH
If you’ve got a leaky kitchen faucet that needs to be fixed, keep watching. Follow along with me and learn how to fix your own in just a few minutes. This repair is for faucets with only one handle and it’s really very easy to do! The tools needed are Allen wrenches, large adjustable wrench and some needle nose pliers.
Before we start, turn off both water valves under the sink and cover up the sink to prevent small parts from accidently dropping into the drain. plastic ring. With the handle removed, we can see the rubber seals that need to be replaced. When you're done verything goes back in reverse order. Be careful not to squeeze the rubber seals too hard with your pliers. Because I laid everything out on the table, it was easy for me to put all the parts back together.
Once the faucet has been reassembled, turn on the water valves underneath the sink. Check to see that the faucet is running correctly. There may be some sputtering from the faucet after you start the water. Now when I turn off the faucet, the drip is gone! If you found this video helpful, please give me a thumbs up and don’t forget to subscribe to my channel for more product reviews and how to videos.

Thank you ! This was so easy. I'm a 61 year old widow, shut in during a pandemic. I didn't want to have to call a plumber and pay $100+ for a $5-$10 job. I know my Master Plumber Grandfather would have been horrified if I had done that. great instructions! No more drip. Thanks again.

Thank you for the clear, no nonsense tutorial. I was successful with stopping the leak. My only comment would be for future DIY's, please check online for your replacement part. I paid $40+ for the part, Amazon had a generic brand for half that price. I would have bought online and then followed these excellent instructions. Again, thank you for taking the time to make the video and share your experience.

Thanks for the video. The repair took only about 10 minutes. We have a 10 year old Delta faucet. I called them and they sent me the parts kit for free. If you have Delta faucets, they warranty them for life. I was never asked about proof of purchase or if I was the original owner. All the best!

Super clear and easy to follow. If your little rubber seals are leaking from age & use, its usually a good idea to change out the ball cam assembly at the same time (the “another plastic ring” at 1:20, which comes with a matching black rubber seal underneath that prevents leaks around the base of the handle). By the time the smaller seals are leaking, the cam’s seal usually is worn and ragged, too. For the same reason, I unscrewed the aerator from the end of the faucet and rinsed out the black rubber bits that had accumulated there.

Thanks for this. It took three times as long to go out and find the part as it did to fix! My faucet was a Kohler, which used a cartridge vs. the small gaskets and springs, but the basic idea was exactly the same and the repair itself was a breeze. The most challenging part was using the allen wrench to get the initial screw out.

@@TheRenderQ Unfortunately, after leaving that comment, I discovered that the leak still persists . . . unless we position the handle just right. At first I thought maybe one or both seats weren't properly in place, so I went back in and confirmed they were snug. But, after putting it back together, if the handle is pushed straight down to the off position, there's a leak or even a steady stream of water coming out of the faucet. The only way to stop it is to move the handle slightly to the right, which is kind of annoying. Could it be the seats aren't sealing properly?
@rbrianphillips
@rbrianphillips 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheRenderQ Final update: The seats and springs I originally purchased at Lowe's were Danco brand, Delta replacements. So, I found Delta OEM seats and springs at Home Depot, and installed them yesterday. No leak! So, using OEM parts was the fix. Holding the Danco parts up against the Delta OEM parts revealed a VERY slight difference in the seats. But, I guess it was enough, though, to cause an imperfect fit.

Thank you so much for this video. My one handle, I can’t shut off the water straight on. I literally have to keep shifting the handle to the left for it to shut off. It started out only a little bit, but now, it’s shifted all the way to the left. I tried to take the handle off, but mine did not seem to want to just come off easily. I’ll give it another shot tomorrow. Wish me luck.

worked like a charm... my set screw was frozen in place so wd40 helped loosen it up before beginning, my kit also came with two sets of springs and rubber seals so I matched mine with the two that looked the same and replaced them both... one tip? don't use plyers, use a small screw driver instead, place the spring inside the rubber seal on the shaft of the screwdriver and then place the tip of the screwdriver in the hole and tilt so the two pieces slide down into place, then press lightly to make the seal... much easier imho... anyhoo... thanks for the video, made it very easy.

Great job, very well organized to help make simple for us. Great job, thanks. Also, besides handle leak the spout is also leaking at base as well.

Thanks for the great video !!! Took me less than 10 minutes (except for getting the parts (springs and rubber plugs). Easy peezy!! Saved me $150 plumber’s call plus a healthy markup on the parts. $6.00 fix :))

Excellent! Since you have the same faucet the video was made just for you! Almost! But it really is an easy repair. Don't forget to shut off the water valves under the sink before starting. I forgot to include that in the video. Thanks for watching!

This is indeed a helpful video. Have managed this repair on my own in the past. Mine is not leaking from the handle, but leaks water at the point of handle attachmentonly when the faucet is turned on. No idea which part would be to blame, especially since it is a fairly new faucet.

Saw others asked similar questions after I posted this. O rings and ball....after figuring out how to lift the whole faucet? One other comment: when resembling parts for the spring and seats repair on handled faucets, be sure to put the parts on in correct position , remembering if it’s on off or on. Already ended up with knobs turning oppositite direction and having to do it over in proper position. May not apply for one handle though.

I think it would be helpful to tell people about the pin that lines up with the ball when you replace the ball and also about the tab on the plastic that lines up with the slot on the side of the main body of the faucet. Unless yours didn't have the same as mine but mine you do have to line these things up. Good Video

Thanks for the advice! I may have to look back into the assembly and see what I did. This was just a weekend project so I thought I was pretty careful at putting things back the way I took them out. But there's always room for me to learn! Glad you enjoyed the video!

Great. Did that. But I need to know how to repair the leaking from under the water spout itself. The nylon collar seems to be the problem.
