Usually it’s the bearing that fails in the gearcase, this seems like a failure of the internal gears.

What's the job of tbe slider that attaches to the transmission before the stator goes back on? Is that like mode-shifter or something?

@@chineeboy18 yes similar to a mode shifter. The magnet energizes and pulls it down to engage with the teeth on the rotator for spin mode. When the slider is up it is in the washer mode. Thanks for watching.

@@NakeshInc sometimes they do. Another person said just take the bolt out and turn the machine on. The washer and the wash action will break it loose. I haven’t tried it yet. But I will soon just to see. Thanks for watching Shane

Why do the end of cycle jingles on a dryer or washer, as well as timer for an oven barely audible. Our old Montgomery Wards dryer from the early 1980's when finished would let out a loud buzz that I could hear with no problem, and our laundry machines are in the basement. Newer Whirlpool dryer from mid 2000's when finished signal I can barely tell even when I'm in the basement. It just makes three or four barly audible toots that is supposed to let me know when clothes are dry. Same for our newer oven. Our 1984 Kenmore range when timer set would let out a pretty loud buzz I could hear throughout the house, and it kept buzzing until you turn it off, but our newer range from mid 2000's oven make a barely audible beep that chirps every ten seconds, but unless you are standing at the stove, you would never know it was beeping. Many overdone foods, as timer can't be heard especially if there is any noise going on like talking, tv, radio.

@@booandsue oh man yes! those old buzzers are legit loud! They let you know. Now it’s a little jingle you can barely hear. My old kenmore we leave the buzzer off cause that sucker will scare you if you are walking past it 😂

@ oh the beep obviously it’s the control. I’ve seen it from time to time. I have remedied that with a screw driver tap on the buzzer. lol but usually it needs a control.

@@yuccaken Of course he knows. The old buzzers used the timer motor coil to generate the sound. Solid state logic controlled machines would require an extra coil and circuit to drive it.

Could you please explain how this drive system works? When I look at the stator and the rotator, it reminds me of a direct drive turntable! Are there really gears in that gear case, or is it just the main shaft to the agitator and drum?

@@agostinodibella9939 it’s a shaft inside of a shaft. The slider in the up position is not engaged. And it’s in the washer mode. When the magnet energizes and pulls the slider down it engages with the teeth of the rotator and it’s then in spin mode. Thanks I’ll try and explain that next time on video.

@@Android_WarriorThis was in 2005. Maytag had the chance to sell a majority to a Chinese company with the written guarantee they would continue to operate independently. The Chinese wanted a premium brand with which to compete. Whirlpool made no guarantees, made no better offer, but this was a period of very strong emotions (the nation was at war and still reeling from 9/11). The employees (many had stock) and the managers and the other stockholders didn't want to sell to the Chinese. Whirlpool came in, closed down everything, fired nearly all the workers, either sold or destroyed the capital production machinery and turned the brand into a gussied up Roper. Lipstick on a pig after the DD production stopped and this current Vertical Modular Washer system was deployed throughout with a different direct drive for some units like this Maytag.
