I don’t think you would have gotten the same texture on the tumbler spraying with paint and add decal. The sublimation process is so smooth. Since you scratched the tumbler after sublimation, did you still use the Cricut infusible pen, if so would you have to process again to make the ink permanent. If so, would you have to wrap the whole cup in paper and tape again? Or could you use a permanent sharpie?

Hi! I need to fix a tumbler to put vinyl on it...ok let me explain what happened. Apparently this team all got tumblers with their logo on it. Not vinyl, just a "waterproof" sticker. I did not make it, but I'm trying to fix it for the girl who gave it to her, apparently the girl put it in the dishwasher. After finally getting all the gunk off of it, it kind of messed up the surface and, because I used oil, it won't un-grease itself. So now, I've cut the same logo out of vinyl, but it wouldn't stick last time. Going to try again because those tumblers are apparently discontinued...is there a way to salvage the naked tumbler so that I can get the vinyl to take? And if so, wondering if I should then seal it. Thanks for reading :)

So....how much time do you have to fix these tumblers? I would sand them and then spray paint and epoxy.
@megandroe52402 жыл бұрын
@@CraftableThings Thanks so much for responding!! the funny thing is, she (the girl I know) tried to have the previous maker fix it, but it took her months to even get back to her. Finally she gave her the damn tumbler and my friend gave it to me. I told her order a new one, because that SEEMED easy peasy...but that size was sold out, then she ordered it from EBay...and the wrong one came. So now we're like ok let's try it again. So really it's been so long that I'm not exactly concerned because at this point what's another day...but ugh. I did scrub it with a brillo pad, but only half-heartedly because I assumed other options were going to be feasible. I guess I'll go back to sand it. You mean spray paint instead of vinyl? And then epoxy to seal? I think it's so silly not to just get another cup and say oh well, it's unique! haha

Try heating it up with the heat gun. If it's embedded in the cup, you can sand it down and spray paint/glitter/epoxy it. Try not to let the shrink wrap make direct contact with the tumbler. If you're subbing in pieces, put a piece of butcher paper or regular paper in between the image and shrink wrap.

Its not jet black I guess that what I'm trying to say. Is your tumbler jet black? I know it may look different in person. Thanks!

My blacks are black black. Are you using CMYK color codes? Sometimes colors look darker on the computer than they are when printed. I get best color results from using CMYK codes for the colors that I want. It makes a big difference. Even the default black in most programs isn't the blackest black. Also, make sure you are over baking them. Usually fading can mean that it's in too long or the temp is too high.
