I have a 25 year old GE over the stove microwave/convection oven. It stopped heating food in the microwave function and makes the buzzing sound like in this video so it’s probably the magnetron. But since this happened, the convection function doesn’t work properly anymore either. The convection bake and broil still heats up but it doesn’t heat up enough. For instance if I set it for 350, it only heats up to about 150 and in the high broil function it only heats up to 200 degrees. Why would this be? The magnetron shouldn’t have anything to do with convection function should it?

@@LexVance Yeah I’m just going to get a new one but until I do I thought I could still use the convection part but now that won’t heat up enough to use and I’m puzzled as to why that is? It does heat up but not high enough to do any convection cooking.

how do i determine the size of my magnetron
@LexVance Жыл бұрын
I would Google and match the model and serial number on the microwave. Whatever it says it takes, that's what I would go back with.

That's awesome man! My team usually just trashes them. Lol I've leaned so much from your videos, great job. Be cool to see how you deal with a butthead resident. I've seen the video of you explaining it of course. Would just like to see your method in action. Have a good one man.

The timer turns on my microwave but it doesn’t turn or warm up could it be the magnetron ???
@LexVance Жыл бұрын
It's could be. However, the parts cost almost as much as a new microwave. So, now days we just replace the whole microwave at my property.

What if is not the magnetron or the capacitor?

Get a new microwave. The parts almost cost just as much as a new microwave. That's what we do for our residents.
@derekyurgaitis71192 жыл бұрын
@@LexVance I’ve already done that the only problem is that’s the only microwave that fits in my motorhome. The new ones are just a little bit too wide and the door doesn’t open properly
@derekyurgaitis71192 жыл бұрын
@@LexVance In any event it ended up being just a thermal fuse. The only one I didn’t test and of course I test all the micro switches as well

Capitol Refrigeration,Heating,and Cooling You can. Just have to de-energize it like caps on an HVAC unit. But I don't touch the cap when I do magnatrons. Hmmm, it's hard to say by not being there. It could be lots of things. The door switch can cause it not to spin & heat as well. I'd need to be there with a volt meter. Thank you so much for watching Hans! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
