Afte watching this I tried it. IT WORKED. I was skeptical. The window switch didn't cooperate but the door lock switch did. With a mechanical key and lock, you can roll up the windows by holding the key to lock. After banging on the door, that option worked. Switch group is falling apart sonic could be faulty, but it works now also. Thanks for the video

Didn't work the first time on my 2002 Mini. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and then went out again to conquer that passenger window failing to roll down... determined to get it working. Pounded on the panel above the speaker real good a number of times. Nothing. Hmm... fiddled around with both window buttons, pounded it again REAL good and WALAAAHH it worked!!! Yay!! Thanks Corey!!

Thank you for the tip. I wound up having to remove my door panels, which gave me direct access to the metal frame. After a couple of hits, the windows operated normally. You're a life saver, I really didn't want to remove the window glass to replace that motor... My situation involved both doors. I've replaced the drivers door motor twice over the thirteen years I've had the car... 🍻🎊

Bought a 2003 Mini One rather quickly and didn't check the electric window first ,my bad .Found out when I got it home ,could of been rather expensive to fix if I had given it to a garage .Huge thankyou !!!! When both of my 04 Mini Cooper S windows recently stopped going down, I tried the bang-the-door-card while holding my switch down, but it didn't work. I just tried it again holding the switch up as you did and whacking the door with a big rubber mallet, but still no joy. I guess it works for some, but it looks like I may be in for a window motor removal or two. Nice video, though - well made and a good description of the bang-the-door method.

Thanks man, saved me some trouble. Window was working fine one day then not the next, so I knew the regulator hadn’t failed, but didn’t have much else to go on. A little switch action and some tappy-tap-tap-tap and we’re back in business!!

Thanks - it worked! It recently only worked occasionally, then one day stopped altogether - luckily in the up position. I thought it may be a fuse. The fabric roof also only opens halfway - still wondering how to fix that - and is not the two connections in the boot.
