On Windows, when your start menu and taskbar go missing, or you are forced to crash your windows explorer, you don't have to reboot your computer to get everything back.
You can hit CTRL + ALT + DELETE, then go, in the upper-left, to File, then click "Run new task", and enter "explorer.exe", and check the box for "Create this task with administrative privileges".
Once you click "Ok", your start menu and bottom taskbar should reappear, on Windows.
Sometimes, my file explorer freezes, and I am forced to crash it, so this is a neat trick for getting things running, again, without rebooting your whole computer.
