Fix a Neckline that Sticks out and is Gaping.
If the front bias cowl neckline of your dress or blouse is supposed to be draping down but only sticks out, adding pleats and lowering neckline can fix this problem.
This usually occurs if the style if meant to stand out and away from the body or if the fabric is to thick and stiff to drape properly.
Also, if the cowl neckline isn’t designed low enough, it will not hand down at all.
You can also do this for Bias cut skirts that have the same issue.
It is best to pin the pleats with the dress on so that you can adjust the pleats accordingly for a perfect fit.
For a shortcut or if you’re in a pinch, you could even pin a brooch through all the layers and not have to sew the pleats.
Make sure to keep stitches in one spot for a neat professional finish.
