You are my new hero. I just got started with some of your milder techniques for my chronic subluxation of T4 and T8 due to scoliotic curve and motorcycle accident, and already have pain relief. I started PT when the condition was first diagnosed in 2006, but moved away from my fabulous practitioner and no one else ever took the time to work the issue. I have had four T4 and T8 radiofrequency ablations that give wonderful relief for 6 months to 1 year, but treating symptoms does nothing for the underlying problem. I was going to seek a chiropractor until I started your technique. I can do this, and I am so grateful you showed me how!

I had 2 dislocated ribs. They were bad enough to cause breathing issues. Ironic thing is they both happened from coughing so much. I followed your suggestions and used the roller first. It worked short term for a few hours, but then everything got worse. I don't have a theraband & the Y wings & stretches were not productive. Everything began to grow worse over 4 days until it was nearly unbearable. So I went to sleep. I laid on my right side as it produced the least pain. I slept for a couple of hours. Then I woke up & readjusted to my stomach bc I simply can't stay in 1 position comfortably. I pulled my hands up drawn into fists under my chest & lowered myself down with medium force. Pop! The right one went back in & the pain was gone. I stayed on my stomach to not upset the relief I was finally got. Thirty minutes into it & I had to cough. Pop. The other went back in by the reason it went out to begin with. They're still sore. I still have some pain on the rib passing almost in my armpit, which is the thing that started all this to begin with in the last week of Jan. It still hurts now, but it's not debilitating in any way. Just hurts.

All this is great unless you have a fracture/detached rib. Not sure if this is what I have, This has deeply affected my scapula/ribs on the left, also muscles are pulling on neck and so am having neck issues to boot. It’s a vicious cycle. Having an appointment in August see a specialist(he’s that far out) to at least see if this is my diagnosis. The doc had mentioned there are three main causes of slipping rib syndrome - degeneration, trauma, and hypermobility.

Appreciate the video man. I had a slipped rib a bit over a year ago when I was doing rack pulls had the gym and heard a loud pop and my back felt really weird. The pain got so bad I could barely move because I let it go so long. Once we found the problem it took so long to fix because I had so much fluid and inflammation back there that it took so long to fix. I now have it again and have been looking for a self fix instead for of having to go to my expensive chiro and get it fixed. I’ve been doing the foam roller and that gives me some relief but I feel like it needs to be “popped” back into place. I also can “pop” it myself by curving my spine and taking a deep breath in but it’s obviously not going back into the correct position. I guess my question is, will these physical therapy workouts help correct my issue or do I need to go back in, get it fixed and then do these exercises? Thanks for the detailed video and for your time.
@vulcanmovement
@vulcanmovement 6 жыл бұрын
It all depends on your specific problem. "Popping" it is not necessarily going to help you. I would recommend putting yourself into strenuous isometrics. You will be able to focus on the control of your trunk and back without the pain that comes from a front rack or overhead movement when you are hurting. Then, over time, progress to more full body and dynamic movements. Sounds like this has been a chronic issue for you so it may take you time, but very do-able if you are diligent. And of course, going to see a good movement specialist who can pick on your case specifically is always helpful. Thanks for watching man.

Hi Sean, I've been having issues on the left side upper back since having a chiropractor adjustment seven months ago at the T4 or T6 area. Seemed like the activator tool was set too high. Felt like a hard hit with a popping sensation. I have always been an active person, running, calisthenics, weight training and have not been the same since. Soon after upon running, I was getting burning sensations and spasms, which I thought were cardiac related. Had numerous tests that verified the heart was good. A thoracic x-ray and MRI did not show any spurs or definite issues related to what I have been feeling. I had PT therapy since then, which seems to help, but symptoms would come and go. After a few months my left shoulder was shown to be higher when running, and the physiotherapist indicated I had scapular diskinesis. Never had these issues before. After a bout of COVID, and coughing 6 weeks ago, the irritation around the back seems to have gotten worse, with muscle knotting and soreness between the scapula and spine. Also, taking a deep breath I can feel tightness in that area. Seems like get out of breath faster with exercises as well. This has caused anxiety and depression for most of my year and am trying to find an answer and solution to get to normal again, which I pray is possible. I hope your symptoms have resolved since your injury. I fear mine may have been a pop from the cartilage at the T4 or T6 months ago, and maybe didn't heal right. If you can offer any help or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Everyone from chiropractors to PT have recommended continuing to be active. I am not sure what I can do anymore.

Hey john! I‘m suffering from the exact same problem you described, but its on my upper right side, so i could be sure it was no cardiac related problem. I think I dislocated and damaged my ribs after weeks of surfing and lying on the surfboard. But i feel the exact same things! I was alway active, and im not the same ever since. Last week i got an xray and it showed two broken ribs, that already healed up a bit, but the pain remained. If you have any solutions hit me up, or maybe we can exchange things that helped. Until now i did some PT and it helped a bit, but at the moment it is worse again…

However I’ve tried accupuncture recently and it’s actually been helping a little with the pain. I still have pain but it’s not what it used to be. Each time I go I feel the pain lessening. You could also try prone unilateral pisiform contact With high velocity low impact intensity thrust in the line of drive opposite the displacement or dysfunction after several deep abdominal breaths at the end range of exhalation. if done by a chiropractic or Dr of p.t.. The thing is to be aware of is that the rib itself esp the costotranverse head may fixate or displaced in several planes. Thus it is important to address all these planes of movement. These exerrcises may have what they call a mouse trap effect just moving and strengthening those areas caused the rib no matter what planes involved to inherently move back itself. The same might be true in some cases with a thrust on the rib as well, especially if there is a toggle rebound movement added to the treatment. Only a person, skilled in spinal and extremity adjusting should attempt something like this. Most of the videos I’m seeing by physical therapist and a chiropractor do address these different planes of muscle involvement around the thoracic cage to help the ribs reposition and stabilize. Remember not all are enthusiastic outside your presence as while you watching them but compliance is the key thing. The motivating factor since ribs go at any time is pain. Of course all clinicians know this.Most CORRECTION video techniques are very well intentioned by caring clinicians, trying to help the public to be self motivating in their fitness and care. 😊

The evidence support HVLT thrust techniques for this particular issue with the rib is quite low. Showing no support for long term benefits and level B research indicating any short term benefits. Plus, none of those techniques are easily performed on one's own. Thrust maneuvers are only as good as the exercises accompanying them

I'm concerned that consulting a chiropractor isn't mentioned. My ribs slip SEVERAL times a year, sometimes I feel like they are out more than in. I visit my chiropractor every 3 weeks, and the relief I get when he pushes my ribs back in is euphoric. I'm more interested in what I can do to strengthen everything around my ribs to hopefully keep them in place??

Not a good demo of a rib dislocation... Foam roller will only create more pain on your ribs if they’re still inflamed/dislocated/fractured. Those other “exercises” are not going to help people with dislocated ribs. You need to have your ribs manually adjusted by a doctor or someone who knows how to manipulate the rib cage effectively.
@SaintShion
@SaintShion 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm a Doctor and dislocated ribs are not a joke, you need a professional who understands intercostal muscles and that you can pinch a nerve very easily. Ribs that have been the dislocated need the area imaged, preferably with an MRI. Movement actually makes the problem worse, like a kettle bell and stretching would be useful in Physical therapy of the ribs NOT to fix them! If a persons ribs are popping and having spasms, then they should be splinted like all other dislocations. Only after the dislocation is set would I suggest this level of activity. I've had 2 prior rib dislocations, and there is no way in heck I would do clean jerks to try and push through the pain by doing damage to the area. ALWAYS consult a Doctor.

M&M is a Chiropractor the type of Medical Professional to go to for this? I’ve been suffering with this for years now and at best I can get it to settle down to a 4-5 in pain. Not even 3 grams of Tylenol taken for an entire month (recommended by my Ortho Dr) made a dent in the pain. I’ve been using Ibuprofen and Kratum. The thing is X rays and MRI’s are showing anything bury I have the elevated markers for inflammation and a high D Dime which suggest I might even have an underlining infection. I can barely breath and forget about sleeping laying down anymore. I can only use my right arm for steering the car. It’s awful and the inflammation is so deep inside that when I swallow food or water it passes slowly down and I can feel cold beverages cascade down all in the left side where all the inflammation is. Dr’s keep dismissing me and I can’t even work anymore.

@@madeinhisimage3447 Sadly I really really want to answer this question, but in the US, where I liscense to practice I could be liable if something were to happen to you or you were hurt, plus its pretty hard to give a treatment plan with out seeing a patient. I will say tho as a person who had 3 dislocated my ribs myself, I had pain so bad that I could not stand up straight or lift my arms high (since the scapula hurt to use) do basic things like mop, drive a car, put clothes on or sleep with out a stint binding my ribs. The number one sign is your ribs make poping feeling, not like cracking your back, more like they're sliding into place. If so you need to keep pushing Dr.s to listen. it took me years to fix mine and Im an MD sooooo........

@@madeinhisimage3447 He's not a D.C., he's an M.D., the last type of doctor you would go see if you wanted to actually solve anything. Keep taking Tylenol like that and you'll end up with liver failure AND a rib dislocation! You need to see a chiropractor. I'm surprised you haven't, that's what they do. Costo-vertebral and Costo-transverse joints don't go out. Rib subluxation isn't acknowledged in the medical world, because it doesn't show up on radiology. The ribs have simply been strained.
@salehaallal4364
@salehaallal4364 8 ай бұрын
How do you explain a strain that has been going on for years despite foam rolling, chiropractors, massages, strengthening exercises ( isometrics , stretching, slow eccentrics ) . I get temporary relief from digging extremely deep into my ribs at the back with a lacrosse ball, feel like my ROM has somewhat returned for an hour or two but it always comes back . I thought I might have a leg length discrepancy but it turns out there’s only a 4 mm difference which is completely normal .. Thought I might have a digestion problem causing my ribs to flare that’s not it either ( did a fibroscopy there is nothing there, asked for a gluten intolerance and lactose test negative…) I honestly don’t know what to do at this point . If anybody has a solution to this condition ( rib pain at the back on the left side of my spine and near T2 to T4, causing a grinding feeling of the shoulder blade, and a general pain around the shoulder blade and shoulder When In the overhead position , sometimes causing tingling tdown my left arm. The tingling only comes if I’ve been active or elevating my arm overhead a lot, and never stays more than a couple of hours before leaving for the next few days.. I forgot to say it just appeared someday out of nowhere I woke up with this pain at the back thinking I was having a heart attack , turned out my heart was fine, I just had costochobdritis… the anti inflammatoires did absolutely nothing… So if somebody out there has some kind of new idea as to how to solve this issue I’m all ears

Do you get a sensation like you are hooked on yourself? I’ve been diagnosed with Functional Nuero disorder but I swear my skeleton is wrapped around it’s self or hooked. As I twist my vertebrae drop inwads, it feels, it feels like I’m rockin back and forth over or around each vertebrae and it creeps upwards. And it will go all the way down my pelvis, externally rotating my hip forwards, making it crack, then my knee will twist and crack, then ankle, then my foot cranks over to crack -- finally the tension releases and it travels tranversally through my pelvis and travels up the other side of the spine. I feel like I’m twisted up or dislocated in my body. My arms normally do the same thing wrapping my shoulder and looping my shoulder blade. It feels then like I’m hooked around my clavicle. It will travel up my neck and feel like im twisting my neck involuntarily to allow the twist to pass through .... and all this time I crack and feel like I’m twisting myself up like you twist up a towel to ring it out. The twisting will travel up and down my sternum and back for hours and it’s like my skeleton is frantically trying to “unwind or unwrap” itself from whatever it is wrapped or hooked on. Have you ever had patience describe this? They can’t catch it when it’s unwinding for imaging - multiple MRI’s - neorologists, Parkinson’s specialists, denied at Mayo ... minor disc issues ... pain beyond belief - at times feeling disconnected or unhinged from my lower body. Can subluxing vertebrae do this? Can slipping rib do this? Is this type of sensation synonymous with any type of spine related disclocation? I have great chirp care and a mystery that they have diagnosed as FND, but I swear my skeleton is wrapped up on itself and literally manipulating my bones. Your thoughts would be helpful!

I have had 4 treatments that lasted from 9 months to 1 year 4 months, and had blissful pain relief. No other ill effects as only the nerves serving the rib itself are ablated. If your ribs continue to pop, (meaning if you push into the effected area and your rib(s) pop repeatedly), when you stretch or move the area creates intense spasms, and it tends to ache consistently, like you've fallen off a building...than I'd see a dr. Ribs are NOT supposed to pop chronically, since they're fixed to the spine and have intercostal muscles that keep them stable for breathing.

Reach out to a chiropractor specialised in treating kids the age your baby is!!! This will definitely be safer than to try these exercises on YT and I can only recommend chiropractors, wish you two the best of luck💕

@@MrPingpongmasters it took some time, but I have a few tips. First off is deep breathing. Take a large breath into your rib cage, then push your shoulders back like military posture. Finally bring your arms back overhead like in a dumbell pullover. This really stretched my rib cage, and seemed to give them all space to slide into order. Second is foam rolling the upper back down to the base of the rib cage. Keep both sides of ur shoudlers on the roller, and just work up and down while breathing deep. Finally is a more aggressive way for when things feel "safer". Perform deep ribcage stomach vacuums, and flex the abs forward to make almost a tube/taco like shape with the sides empty. I belive scott covers this in a vacuum video. Good luck bro

Nothing unclear about it. He cautions continually. If you could feel a subluxation of the degree needed to puncture a lung, you should have gone to the ER.
