lol Marc, that is actually a... sexual trigger spot on goats. You can do that to younger females even and they will get "interested" in you. Nubians and boers even just 20 years ago were almost all "sway back". Through the process of adding different short ear'd breeds to their genetics, the sway back was bred out. In the show world, you want a slightly up hill / level top line. The long eared goats of the past lacked this terribly. On the flip side of this, when showing goats, most people will "pinch down" their goats to level the rump angle. A level rump helps with smoother deliveries. The pinch down is done a few inches down the spine from the front shoulders to the center of the spine. You lightly run / dig your fingers into the sides of their spine.

Great tip for the health and longevity of your goat. I would surmise that the age, and time spent developing into a sway-back would influence the degree of resistance to correction, but anything that can be done to help them is worth it.

fascinating, this is a tool the horse world has used for as long as I can remember.. Horse lift also when you gently place fingers in same general area.. I wonder if it is like a reflex point? How is he now? last but never least, OMG his expression towards the camera is hilarious !

PackGoats.com well he still only works when he wants too. I’ve tried the turning where when they pull back you turn them and all I get is dizzy no joke it hasn’t changed anything. If I pull and fight with him he just flops down on his side and blats. If I pick him up off the ground to get him on his feet he goes jelly legs. Now when he wants to be good he’s an awesome packer and walks excellent and will go and go and go.

Brian Philbrook Is it possible he has an injury? Goats don’t like to be left on the trail. Are you saying he flops on the ground when packing?

PackGoats.com not just packing sometimes in winter when he pulls the sled and sometimes just when we are walking around the yard. I don’t think there’s any injuries because as soon as he’s loose on pasture he’s running and playing with the others.
