I was told by a supposed "tv repair man" I only had to hit it one time, but since I am ALWAYS having to reset it I will try your method. You might also try this: 1) unplug from wall 2) hold power button for 30 seconds 3) after additional 30 seconds (1 min. total) plug back in and turn on. It works, but sometimes not for long.

When there's no Stand by or not turning on that means the power supply has been blown depending on your model tv cause these companies are making it harder for anyone to replace motherboards for old TV's

I purchased a TCL TV for a guest bedroom. It was used maybe 15 hours total. I recently noticed that it would not turn on. The display is black. I contacted TCL and they said too bad, the warranty has expired. I have a big screen LCD TV from another well-known manufacturer that has been heavily used and is more than 10 years old. I also have several LCD monitors a well-known manufacturer which are more than 10 years old. None of these ever had a single problem. Anything that looks too good to be true probably is. You get what you pay for. If you're looking for a TV that will last, don't get a TCL TV. They are cheap garbage and TCL doesn't stand behind them.

Thanx man! So far it’s working again. I had to try it a few times but it finally worked. I pushed it 100 times or so and it didn’t work so then I held it and saw the light go out and back on. At that point, I knew I was back in business! Your video was much appreciated. As someone else said.. this is the only video I found mentioning that reset button.

So I’m trying your method. How long did it take to reset? My screen flashed on and I did the flashlight method and can see the words on the screen, so I know it’s working 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@cealarkin5361 the issue I had was my screen was solid black and the standby light was white. Unplugging for hours did nothing so I started searching and ALL other methods failed. I hit the reset over and over and got nothing. Then I tried to hold the reset button in. Did that for maybe 15-20 seconds and I saw that standby light fade out. A few seconds later the TV was back on.. Finally! I hope you get yours working again. IF you do get it.. I would recommend doing the factory reset. If we are lucky it wont happen again. Good luck!

@@jeremylemon2808 thanks for the response 😊 I’m going to try to do it later tonight when it’s dark. I suspect that the screen brightness was changed as well. It happened to my Mac laptop. I accidentally landed on the issue. I really want to avoid taking the back off and all that jazz. I was just at target yesterday and they have the same model on sale for $450. It’s just not worth repairing at that cost.

Sometimes it’s the LEF inside the screen. Take a flashlight and look, if you can see Netflix or whatever, it may be the LED.

I went back to TCL and escalated the black screen on a TV that was barely used, but out of warranty. They refused to fix it or replace it. TCL doesn't stand behind its products and it doesn't make products that should be expected to last a reasonable time. I encourage anyone looking for a TV to purchase any other quality brand rather than TCL.
