Welding tip cleaner wires are more flexible and a set comes in enough sizes to fit anything.

Yes I have some of those, but the smallest rod is still to big to go through this hole... Maybe they make some sets with smaller rods then the ones I have... 😊. I think that hole is about .012" (ish). It's pretty small...

If this doesn't fix the surging what would you suggest as some next steps?

Yes, I would clean the whole carburetor.... There may be something clogged in the emulsion tube...
