Great video, I had a problem with a new Xbox series controller that started drifting and moving fast. The fix for me was to open the green part of the right stick. This is all well and good if the controller is just dirty... My stick is drifting because the piece inside doesn't stick in the neutral position, like the parts are wearing out... Any fix for that, or am I screwed?

I have a Power-A brand wired Xbox One controller for Xbox/PC. The left thumb stick isn't sticked or anything, it's just loose. It's a relatively new controller, and it's been knocked off my chair or bed (a 1 and a half to 2-foot drop at most). When I rest my thumb on the thumb stick, I can easily wiggle it around, causing slight input in some directions. When I apply pressure and move the stick along the upper right quadrant, I have increased resistance and a squeaking noise. Is this something that opening the controller can fix or is the stick broken? I am a little afraid to open it up if I don't need to, since I fear breaking some other part of the controller.
@TryThisDIYFix Жыл бұрын
I hear ya! I was worried as well to open it up. But I’d recommend doing it and seeing what’s going on. It sounds like it might be broken a little bit or there could just be something in their hindering it from moving correctly. Open it up and see. Let me know what you find.
@TheBattleRabbit860 Жыл бұрын
@@TryThisDIYFix So I popped it open, which the PowerA controller was surprisingly easy with only 8 screws to open it and then 2 screws (1 by each thumbstick) remove the control board with rumble and sticks fully attached. I plucked the left thumbstick cover off and the whole mechanism is a small cube with a short metal post. it's hard to see into the cube at all. there's still the little bit of wiggling and the squeaking noise is coming from the up/down axis. I see no way to open the cube itself, it appears to be soldered to the board. 2 of the sides look like they might be made of plastic. I feels like something might be stuck in there and preventing the stick from centering fully and causing the noise. I'll have to see if I can find a way to open the cube housing the mechanisms. Thanks for the video and the advice! I'll have to see what else I can learn about this particular brand.
