Nice fix I've had to do this a few times,that repair was close to the end so I'd have shaped a small piece of steel to the inside of the pipe. Making it easier to weld with an arc.

your the best....I bought a new one because of my bad welding results. My exhaust were leaking again and again after a short time

Thanks👍👍 For me, too, arc welding is still going hard. When I touched a hole it became a huge hole, it's also because of the thin wall thickness as a result of the rust, but also a matter of my poor skill. In the end it worked out for me, but the welding did not go well, and as always after sanding it looked better. It's a matter of training and I hardly invest any time in it.

I think what you describe happens to you because you do not knock on the weld with the hammer, and you leave the "shellac" (the material that envelops the electrode) folded between the layers, and when it crumbling, and then the holes exposed. Work with the hammer to break the "shellac", then continue to welding metal on metal.
