The problem with mine was that the ribbon connector had come loose and several pins were no longer connected, so I just did what you did and it fixed it. It seems like Samsung knew that the ribbon connectors could be a bit of a problem, since they put tape their themselves, but I've had mine for almost 4 years now and it still works great. i think the tape is as much to protect the delicate connector as to keep the connection firm, although it does seem somewhat flimsy!

Thanks for this video! I was about to go buy a new tablet for my daughter but then I came across your video. For another searching for an answer. this is a good guide. Sadly my stuff was completely ruined. Was watching videos on it just this morning and the screen just turned off. Only one section of the screen was responsive maybe, if I pressed the volume button it might make noise. It connected to the PC, Despite trying to reboot, removing the screen connector and re attaching it nada. Guess the screen is really and truly done for, Samsung Tab 4 ,survived being 3 drops 1 resulting in a cracked screen. You served me well for all these years rest in peace.

Thank you for this! I didn't know what was wrong with mine and thought it might have just been had it's day. Followed the advice, getting the back off was the most difficult thing but after about 5 mins it popped off. I had a guitar pick lying around as well which seemed to be the best tool. Followed your two steps with the screen and then the battery and it sprung to life. Nice one!!

I too was really worried but managed to pull the back off just easing it with my fingers and nails. I pushed the strip up but it didnt work until I disconnected the battery and then voila.... it worked. You're an absolute hero, thanks sooo much for sharing this.

disconnect the battery for a few seconds then put it back in when you have done that charge your tablet and once you have done that it should turn on

God bless you! I've opened it very easy with this tool. I've disconnected the battery connector firstly, but it didn't work. So, i've disconnected the screen one too but the screen didn't appear. Then i've disconnected again the battery one and connected to the charger and the screen showed up the charging battery icon intermitently flashing. Than i've connected again the battery connector and the screen turned on. So, the conclusion is that you really have to open firstly the screen one and secondly the battery connector.

That worked perfect for me, thank you so much. Only difference, i didnt need to disconnect battery, just reseated the screen cable then press and held power and vol down for 15 seconds then tablet rebooted with screen on. Excellent

Thank you so much! The sticker on the back of my tablet says model sm-t580. However, after opening it, the display ribbon says t585. Thanks for this video! I woke up this morning to check on my tablet's charging status, and then the screen suddenly wouldn't turn on anymore. After watching, I tried popping my tablet open. I've tried all the combos of pressing volume+power button tips to reboot several times...No picture so far for 3mo whenever I've gotten it out to try fixing it again..Gonna open it up & check those same cable connections RN & I really hope it works..I'll definitely be back to say Thank you,if this works,but w/my luck I know better than to get my hopes up much,lol!

Genius - thank you. The back came off pretty quickly. Watch out that you dont muller the plastic around the SD card area or you'll need to clear bent plastic to put the SD card back in.
