Just saying for everybody here: if you want to disconnect the screen (on any device) make sure the battery is disconnected. If that's not possible at least be absolutely sure the device is turned off. You may blow components on the logicboard of you disconnect the screen while it is turned on.

Yes I did that mistake some time ago and can confirm you should do that. It happened to my S7 Edge when I wanted to replace the cracked screen after I got a second broken phone I salvaged a good screen from. After removing the old screen cable while the battery was still connected, nothing every showed up on the old or new screen. I then had to sell all the parts as broken. I got a reply from the buyer who said the second screen was perfectly fine, so I broke the GPU on the board or something like this.

Yeah, this old tablets are not very fast but fast enough to use, specially if you adjust your expectations. All the apps that I have in the mobile and in the iPad also are in the Samsung and work well enough. The main problem is not even Samsung's fault. At least mine comes with Widevine L1, but neither Netflix nor Prime Video recognize that and adjudicate it the L3, so those 2 platforms will only stream in low quality (around 700x500). It is a pitty because the screen is very decent. And you get an SD card slot (which you don't in an iPad) so you can put in there all the movies and series that you might want to watch without caring about storage. Right now devices with Android 6 are starting to be dropped from support of certain apps, mine has Android 8 so I guess that won't be affected by that for a maybe 2 years more. To remain usable until 2022/23 would not be bad at all for a basic tablet launched in 2016.

Just a note about the repair, from a guy that also specializes in mobile device and laptop repairs. The small control board for the digitizer has some large grounding pads, that were originally connected to the back metal display shield using conductive metal-type double sided tape. If the touch works - then that's great, but just keep in mind that some pcbs/flex cables require proper grounding. You can buy that specific type of conductive-metal strans tape on ebay or amazon. As always, great video, enjoyed watching it, wish you luck!

Yeah I always get Wi-Fi models instead of the cellular ones because it's cheaper, I don't normally take my devices (except my phone) out of home, and when I do, I have my phone with me so can hotspot across from a phone to the wi-fi device. Plus, if you use a cellular connection, you need a new SIM card in each device, which means another data package, which will get pricey the more devices you use. One central cellular device and wi-fi hotspotting works wonders fr me.

my dad got me this as a tablet to "play those games you like" for Christmas but he litterly just pulled it out of a box of old dusty electronics in the basement he had for 2 years and didn't care about. It's also an office tablet that cannot run any games.

I've repaired so many of these Tabs and its incredible how much 'bendage' they can take lmao. Love the old school tabs and how easy they are to repair, but unfortunately even older tabs are affected by google lock after a reset :( a step in the wrong direction tbh

I actually have this device, it's okay, however gotten significantly slower after going onto one ui 2.5. One thing i was confused by was that; wouldn't the device ask for the original owners email address(and not letting you enter your own until the old one is imputed) as the device has been reset incorrectly? Or am i missing something Edit: it's called google FRP and you could actually see it lock(7:56) however the seller probably gave him the login to just pass it.

Not bad! Great repair as always! I used to have a Galaxy Tab A, it was the one from 2015. but I upgraded after it became very slow and sluggish (probably due to the eMMC being worn). My old Tab A was sold on, and I got a Tab S4 to replace it (the last decent tablet with a headphone jack).
