How to Fix Clipper Blades Falling Off (replace blade lock)

When blades are not staying on your clippers, most common problem is the Blade Lock is broken.
This video will show you how to replace it yourself and save you money!
This is done on an Andis 5-Speed. All Andis hinges will be the same and other companies will be very similar!

I just purchased this clipper and tried to use my blades (bought in the past). For some reason, the blades are not locking in place at all. I’m so frustrated. Any help would be appreciated.

Try pushing the blades on harder! Making sure they lock in place. The sockets on the blades or the hinge lock on the clipper could be broken if using more elbow grease doesn't work. I can always take a look if you want to mail them in! www.summitsharp.com

I have the easy clipper that I just received, but mine is the opposite. It’s difficult to take the blade off. Almost like it’s stuck on . Any tips would be appreciated

Hey! I would try a new Hinge Assembly. That's the hinge and the lock. The springs on the hinge could be bad. When the blades get stuck on like that, push down on the blade as if you're doing the opposite of what you want. That should release the blades until you get the new hinge and lock!

Did you put the springs through the holes in the lock? If that's on correct, then it might be the sockets on your blades! Send them into me with the clipper and I can give it a shot! www.summitsharp.com for my info =]

I have a clipper that I’m planning to mail to you in the next few weeks (when I get a chance from Nevada). It’s an Artero Premium 2 speed. It was sent to me through the grooming school I attend. It sounds loud, I did drop it also. A groomer at where I work said it’s probably not a good clipper, but I’m not ready to trash it. I want to find out if it’s a lemon 🍋 or a simple fix or just what is wrong with it from en expert like you. I’ve got the box ready, I just need to get the bubble wrap.

@@kenzhope9671 no, I still have it here. I’m bringing it tomorrow to a very seasoned groomer to check it out and see what she thinks. I actually had it packed up ready to mail and then I unpacked it. I want to see if she thinks it’s worth fixing. I plan on sending it anyway to Summit because I’d like to keep it as a back up. After tomorrow I’ll re-box and get ready to mail. It might just be a loud clipper. I bought the KM10 and am very happy with it.

I just replaced my latch, but if I push on the blade hard enough, it still slides forward. It does not unlatch, but is the blade supposed to move without touching the latch?

The latch will also come forward with the blade if it’s pushed hard enough but it does not unlatch without pushing the latch the last little bit

I drop my clipper and it start to make loud noise. Do you now which part of clipper ( andis excel 5 speed) I should replace? Thank.

Either hinge or motor most likely!

One of my screws became loose so I tried to re tighten it, however it just keeps spinning and doesn’t fully tighten like the other screw.

Hey! Most likely the Motor Mount. The Hinge and Blade drive screws get screwed into the motor mount. If it's the blade drive screw, screw it in a little, use pliers to pull out the brass piece. Drop some super glue into the hole and shove the brass piece back in, wait for it to dry, and give it another shot! Thanks so much for watching!

Stuck on your clippers?! Sorry for the late reply. You can try pushing it back onto the clipper and then taking it off. If that doesn't work, you'll need to take the blade apart to get it off =]
