I bought a new water heater today and they told me to connect straight to the nipple with a slip fit brass connector. This looks like a better way using dielectric connector..like it was on my old tank....good vid.

I like the video and its very informative, seems there is several different ways to solder or connect pipes to a hot water heater. The one thing I didn't like about your video is that although you was thorough in it but I like seeing each step without any out takes unless your really struggling or brainstorming how to get the task done so it won't bore your audience. But everyone seems to have a different method of doing plumbing. I've never seen it done like this but I'm considering it.

Thanks for your great video. Suppose that you are installing this dielectric union for the first time on a new water heater. How tight would you screw on the female lower portion of the union onto the male nipple sticking out of the water heater? The female part has a knurled surface, so there is a limit to how well a wrench can grab this part and consequently how much torque can be applied. Thanks.

Thank you , sir. I am wondering if I can reuse the dielectric union nut that is on my pipes for the new hot water heater I just bought because I wouldn’t have to call a plumber if I can, but they seem a little corroded, so I am searching KZbin to see if I can get a good answer. That’s how I found this. Would you say that any corrosion in an old dielectric union nut means it is not worthy of being used? Thanks

What if the pin hole leak is little but higher in the pipe?

Cut the pipe in half directly on the pin hole and soldier in a union or use a soldier-less compression fitting.

Is there is any chance of galvanic corission between cooper and brass shoulder?

khuram javed As long as it is not in a moist humid environment and does not have electrical contact it should be okay. Water flowing from galvanized to brass or copper and not the other way will also help prevent corrosion.
